Our vision is of a society where street homelessness no longer exists, and everyone has a place to call home❤

About us

The Passage provides resources to encourage, inspire and challenge people who have or are experiencing homelessness, to transform their lives. Working in Victoria, Westminster (London) where the concentration of people sleeping rough is at its highest in the UK, the work we do is vital. Our Resource Centre offers a wide range of facilities to those who are experiencing homelessness, whilst also offering support to those who are at risk of becoming street homeless. We have three accommodation projects offering a safe place to call home for those with complex needs, or to those who are in the process of finding a sustainable route off the streets. We are a voice for change and advocate for those who often feel their voice is not heard. The Passage takes its values and ethos from the teachings and example of St Vincent De Paul, a Christian and social reformer, who co-founded the Daughters of Charity in 1633. Vincent believed in action rather than words and in hands-on service to vulnerable people. Our Vincentian values drive everything that we do. • We assist homeless people to realise their own potential to transform their lives. • We act with compassion and kindness. • We are a voice for change and justice. • We build relationships based on trust. • We respect each other. • We are straightforward in all our dealings. • We believe in practical hands-on hard work. • We collaborate across all sectors of society.

This month for the Westminster monthly wrap up🎬 Ria Morris, Georgina Hawkins and I, along with the supply chain have been busy delivering in Westminster City Council A huge thank you to East Electrical Services Ltd for a generous donation to The Passage. 50 clothing items were donated from The Passage’s list of wanted items including trousers, underpants, socks, shoes and jumpers. Thank you East! 💡💛 Another thank you goes to Frixos Metalworks for the kind donation of 3 laptops to The Passage Employment Team. The laptops will support clients in applying for jobs and training opportunities and creating or updating their CVs💻 With the Borough of Westminster facing the highest number of people rough sleeping, charities like The Passage are vital🧡 Lastly, I attended a year 12 assembly at Harris Academy St John’s Wood to 130 students with Construction Youth Trust to promote their careers programme with the school📚 #watessocialvalue #westminster #volunteering

We are proud to be a part of the London Charter to End Rough Sleeping as we work together to put an end to rough sleeping for good. #LondonChartertoEndRoughSleeping Find out more below👇

👉The Passage supports the London Charter to End Rough Sleeping and is part of the core group of organisations that make up the steering group. Their vision is of a society where street homelessness no longer exists, and everyone has a place to call home. The Passage’s pioneering homelessness prevention scheme – No Night Out - is based on the idea that prevention is the key to ending rough sleeping. Prevention stops the cycle of trauma before it begins, as we know that just one night on the streets can have a detrimental impact on an individual’s mental and physical health. The scheme was developed following the pandemic when they identified an effective working model – moving people into emergency accommodation during the ‘Everyone In’ initiative. Since launching in 2021, No Night Out has enabled The Passage to prevent 196 people from spending their first night out on the streets. Of those people, only five returned to the streets, despite their best efforts to support them. That’s a success rate of 96%. The team work with people in a way that best suits their individual needs, for as long as it takes; because meaningful and lasting change requires time, patience and trust. 👉The No Night Out prevention scheme provides emergency accommodation for those at risk of spending their first night on the streets, whilst teams at The Passage work with them to find a more suitable solution. This scheme not only enables The Passage to protect people’s safety and wellbeing, but also provides an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of their situation and what led them there. This deeper understanding ensures that they can provide holistic, wrap-around support to people through a range of their services, helping them on a journey to a happier, healthier and more sustainable lifestyle. 📲For more information about The Passage please visit their website: https://passage.org.uk 🔗Or read more about it on https://lnkd.in/eAustVeB #LondonChartertoEndRoughSleeping #EndRoughSleeping #London

Community Involvement On Wednesday 18th September, a few of our colleagues from the London team took part in a kitchen takeover for our London charity partner, The Passage. The team then headed down to the kitchen to start the prep for lunch and meet the chefs. The team worked diligently from 10 AM - 3:30 PM, preparing a lovely lunch of the roast dinner. Our #Compre team members discovered their hidden talents as chefs, chopping vegetables, seasoning food and creating a delicious fruit salad. The day was filled with smiles as the team helped feed almost 100 people who rely on a hot meal from The Passage. It was an incredibly fulfilling experience to be able to assist and contribute to the community. We look forward to more volunteering initiatives in the future. It is great to see community involvement growing as part of our ESG Roadmap at Compre Group. A big shout out to all our Compre volunteers, as well as Theo Fox and Alexandra M. from The Passage. Connect with either of them if you are interested in volunteering opportunities. The impact made on homelessness in London through their long-term support stretches far beyond just offering shelter and a hot meal - Learn more about The Passage Charity and their incredible work here: The Passage   Simon Hawkins, Marina Fourie, Camille Rene - Waterhouse, Hollie Bishop, Juliet Drake (she/her), Jeremy Fisher, Madeleine Walo, Iyanuoluwa A., and Natasha Saunders #wevalueachother #growwithus #ESG #communityinvolvement #volunteering

Seeing a room full of passionate Passage supporters eager to engage with this urgent issue was truly inspiring! A special shoutout to our amazing frontline teams, our chefs Claudette and Nour, and everyone who helped make the evening so impactful🧡
