I had a great time at the Panasonic Manufacturing site in Cardiff this morning! This week marks the kick-off of the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust program to upgrade the mobile data terminals and software in nearly 800 trust vehicles with cutting-edge tech. I was able to see the first two vehicles gearing up for their tech transformation today. We are very pleased to announce that The Royal Mint Museum has despatched the 1,000th reminiscence box loan to Harper Fields Care Home in Coventry. This major milestone has provided approximately 30,000 people with access to part of the Royal Mint Museum collection, people who otherwise may not have an opportunity to experience it.   The Reminiscence Box project is an opportunity for those living in residential care to interact with a part of the Museum collection and share memories from their lives. The box is an activity resource containing genuine and replica items, audio-description and storytelling, and activity guidance for care workers. The whole Museum team is passionate about contributing to the positive well-being of those living and working in residential care across the nation, and the boxes are available for all care homes in the United Kingdom to borrow. Care home staff can request to borrow a box for free, and run reminiscence sessions with their residents.   The project began in 2021 with five boxes on loan in the Rhondda Cynon Taff area, local to The Royal Mint. The success of the project quickly led to the collection of boxes increasing, with 70 boxes in circulation to commemorate the 2022 Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. In April of this year, a third collection with the theme of The Royal Mint was unveiled. This collection contains information about the history and work of the Mint and encourages listeners to reminisce about a variety of topics. For the first time, this collection is also available to loan in the Welsh language.   The project struck a chord with the Panasonic TOUGHBOOK team at their base in Cardiff. 50 Toughbooks were donated to the project in November 2021, enabling the Reminiscence Box to include an audio-visual element.   Museum Director Dr Kevin Clancy said, “The reminiscence sessions are a fun and stimulating activity, giving care home residents the opportunity to talk about their memories of times gone by. The continuation and expansion of our reminiscence box project is something that we are very proud of. Building on the success of the work with the 50th anniversary of decimalisation and Platinum Jubilee collections, we are now very pleased to offer a third collection.
