Delivering Critical Infrastructure. Better, together.
About us
We are Osprey - the British special logistics provider that’s engineering integrated services to lift, move and ensure the safe installation of some of the world’s largest and heaviest assets. There’s a reason why we’re the UK market leader for all logistics in nuclear construction, and also in engineering heavy lift solutions for civil and industrial installations. We combine clients’ insights with our own subject matter expertise, an in-house inventory, a problem-solving culture and cross-sector experience – it’s the power of ‘us’ working better, together. From factory to foundation, for more than 25 years we’ve been using our own assets – one of the UK's largest SPMT fleets and ocean-going barges – to provide supply surety and open engineering solutions. It’s a multi-disciplined approach, guided by a simple north star. An environmentally focused legacy that reflects our own family values.

The Demag AC40 city crane with the longest main boom in its category at 31.2m and a maximum tip height of 47m! A fully hydraulic boom system ensures the shortest telescopic times and impressive load capacities. With a small footprint and big lifting capabilities the AC40 is a great crane when working in tight spaces. #HeavyLift #HeavyEquipment

Big Modular Approach Pays Dividends at Hinkley Point C. Hinkley Point C’s new factories in Bristol are providing evidence of the significant productivity boost from modular construction. This means building ever larger pieces of the power station in satellite factories and lifting them into place with some of the world’s largest cranes. Laing O’Rourke’s new factory in Bristol Port is producing the large steel reinforcement cages that strengthen concrete, cutting installation time on site by 75% and manufacturing time by 20%. Workers, mostly from the South-West or South Wales, benefit from reduced travel with no need to live away from home, making the industry more attractive to the next generation of nuclear workers. Finished products are shipped directly to Hinkley Point’s jetty, reducing local road traffic. This method enhances production capacity, accelerates the civil building programme, and reduces manual handling, creating a safer, healthier, and more efficient working environment. Recent Examples of Modular Construction: -Steel Rebar: A new rebar factory in Avonmouth improves precision and speed, with no non-conformances reported. - Stainless-Steel Tanks: Prefabricated modules for cooling water tanks are being assembled at Framatome’s new factory in Avonmouth. - Loading Pit Prefabrication: The heaviest load to date, a 1,305-tonne structure used in fuel handling, was made in an on-site bunker and lifted into place by Big Carl, the world’s largest crane. Stuart Crooks, Hinkley Point C Managing Director, highlights this model as a game-changer for the nuclear sector: “The manufacturing model we’ve established here will be good for Hinkley Point C, great for Sizewell C, and sets a whole new direction for the nuclear sector.”

Working again at the Port of Blyth with the Tadano CC2400 crawler crane. We have completed over 300 lifts and more than 5,000t cumulative in the port over the last 12 months alone! Our crawler crane lifted a 130t upending frame out of a paint facility and transported it using our SPMTs to the quay wall for loading out to a coaster vessel. The frame is part of a system that enables longitudinal storage of monopiles before being upended and installed. The last piece of the DLT sub-sea drill platform which Osprey supported on with all lifting activities earlier this year. #HeavyLift #HeavyEquipment

Operating one of the largest SPMT fleets in the UK, Osprey provide flexibility and precision for heavy lifting and transport. Due to the modular nature of SPMTs, we can provide engineered solutions to move any load, any size and weight. Perfect for projects with space constraints, our SPMTs can lift and position heavy loads with millimetre precision, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum efficiency. Innovative and reliable solutions from Osprey. #HeavyLift #HeavyEquipment

The Osprey LG1750 is one of the world's largest and most capable lattice boom mobile cranes! Combining the high load capacities of a lattice boom crane with the manoeuvrability of a mobile chassis, makes this the ideal crane for lifting across a variety of industries. Whether it is erecting wind turbines in remote locations, offloading heavy transformers in a port or installing a bridge at a large radius, the LG1750 has the versatility to cover everything. #HeavyLift #HeavyEquipment
