Lab grown chicken for cats? What’s all the hype about? Well, put simply, it’s the future of cat food!
Which is why, I am immensely proud to report that last week, omnipetfood made the worlds first ever cans of complete cat food with cruelty free chicken breast working with our ingredient partner Meatly.
For comparisons sake, this is like the first week the internet was invented (the pet food equivalent at least!). The cat food market is about to change for good.
Cats being obligate carnivores do seem to require certain nutrients only found in animal tissues (unlike dogs who like us are nutritional omnivores and so can thrive on a well balanced plant-powered diet) - rather than rely on livestock farming to provide the cat food market with meat - our solution saves billions of animals from slaughter and is almost infinitely more efficient in terms of land, water and CO2 consumption.
If that wasn’t exciting enough, the cruelty free chicken can be optimised for health, so more of the good proteins, vitamins and minerals cats need to thrive and no troublesome chemicals like antibiotic residues.

As a side note, It’s worth adding that a guardian reported study last year found that cats seem to do well on non-meat diets too, which is definitely an interesting area of research to keep monitoring though currently not sufficiently validated in my clinical opinion.
