Congratulations to our brilliant Leadership Academy students, they have just given up a week of their summer holidays to complete the ILM Young Leaders Award! Also a massive thankyou to Airwalk Reply, one of our amazing employer partners, who delivered the Leadership Academy and funded the ILM Young Leaders Award. Finally, one last big thank you to Adrian Sykes and Tom Heyes for putting together another fantastic programme. Our students gain so many valuable employability skills and really enjoyed their visit to your offices in London, plus a great guided tour of Westminster!

Health & Social Care students recently took part in a clinical skills session with Medical Mavericks Students used an ultrasound machine, iPhone retina scan, recorded and printed an ECG, took blood from a fake arm, tried keyhole surgery and an infrared vein scanner. They really enjoyed this practical session to develop their clinical skills ready for working in Healthcare practice. #WeAreOSFC

We recently attended the TeenTech Awards in London where students showcased their 3 projects that had made it through to the final! Sadly, we weren't winners this year but we are incredibly proud of our students! Y12 student Safa, confidently presented the awards ceremony alongside Maggie Philbin too - amazing job!

Yesterday, we delivered our first A Level Statistics CPD Day. Over 20 teachers from other centres participated in sharing best practice in teaching the A Level course. The event covered topics such as teaching methods, using graphical calculators in teaching and exam questions, comparing approaches to similar topics in A Level Maths and Further Maths and promoted collaboration among teachers. The day was a fantastic success and we would like to thank everyone who took part.

Feverishly chasing curriculum excellence can result in an outcomes driven, high pressure, high stakes environment that is not healthy for students and teachers who see every assessment, homework and interaction as a ‘cliff edge’ that seals their fate. There is great skill in getting the balance right. Oldham Sixth Form College Vice Principal, Mark Crilly, outlines the implementation process adopted to gain a more efficient, timely and impactful way of working to provide targeted support and enhance their students’ experience. https://lnkd.in/eHbNh4aR
