2023 was the safest since records began for offshore oil and gas workers, with injury rates less than half those experienced in the offshore industries of Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands. Our latest HS&E report shows that although there are still significant challenges there's an encouraging picture for all key metrics of health, safety and environment with greenhouse gas emissions from oil and gas production continuing to meet and exceed targets set out in the North Sea Transition Deal. Key findings 👇 ➡️ Injury rates causing time off work were less than half the rates experienced in the offshore industries of Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands. ➡️ Overall greenhouse gas emissions have fallen by 24% compared to the 2018 baseline, including a 45% drop in methane emissions over the period. Flaring and venting have also been halved. ➡️ Volume of produced water discharged into the sea from platform activities fell by 11% and oil discharged into the sea also fell by 7%. ➡️ Volume of waste from offshore activities that was reused or recycled reached a high of 66%. ➡️ Although unintentional releases to sea of oil and chemicals fell in number they increased in volume, but most releases posed little or no environmental chemical risk. ➡️ Although there were two major hydrocarbon releases, the total number of dangerous occurrences fell 22% to the lowest level recorded. ➡️ Maintenance backlog remains a problem but fell by 4%. 🔗Read the report: https://ow.ly/b3xu50RiZzV

With the help of industry experts, we will explore how the UK can deliver this and what it takes to finance these opportunities in the current economic environment. Join us on the 3rd of September in Aberdeen at our next breakfast, Financing the Transition. We believe that to be successful, a fair transition from the energy we use today to the energy we will use in future, must be done in a way that leaves no individual, community or sector behind. Delivered with people and communities, not done to people and communities. We're looking forward to working with the new government to deliver a homegrown energy transition.
