About us

Octopus Investments, part of the Octopus Group, is an investment company investing in the people, ideas and industries that will change the world. We manage investments for retail and institutional investors, investing the £13.4* billion they have entrusted to us into the areas where we believe we can have the greatest impact. More than 85% of the money we manage is invested in line with one or more of our three investment themes: empowering people, revitalising healthcare and building a sustainable planet. Our retail investors and the financial advisers that support them, have many different goals, from supporting their families to lead better lives and effectively passing down wealth to protecting their money and directing it to places that need it. We provide a range of products that help them to achieve these aims, including Venture Capital Trusts, Enterprise Investment Schemes, Business Relief-qualifying investments and listed UK small and medium-sized company funds. We support our institutional investors to meet their investment mandates on behalf of their end investors, across five specialist asset classes: renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure, real estate, healthcare and venture capital. Octopus Real Estate and Octopus Ventures are part of Octopus Investments. * Octopus as at 31 June 2024 Funds Under Management data includes undrawn commitments, funds under advisory mandates and funds monitored. Our Affordable Housing team spent the last few days attending the Labour Party Conference. On Tuesday, we co-hosted an event with Better Society Capital and Labour Together and brought together MP’s and fellow stakeholders to discuss the UK’s housing challenges and the incredible opportunity private capital has in helping to solve the issues we face. Jack Burnham our Head of Affordable Housing had this to say about the conference, “Octopus is committed to investing in the people, ideas and industries that will change the world, and we are passionate about contributing to solutions that can have a positive impact on the UK's housing challenges. We were delighted to speak with MPs and stakeholders at the Labour Conference alongside Better Society Capital and Labour Together and look forward to engaging with the new government alongside other partners over the coming years."

Chris McVey shares his thoughts on why now might be the time for financial advisers and fund selectors to reconsider an allocation to UK equities. Chris explains that he believes the UK’s economic strength has been underestimated and predicts UK GDP will grow at a faster rate than many other G7 countries. Interest rates and persistent UK inflation have affected markets, but these are now gradually returning to normal levels. With all these factors aligning, Chris believes we are in the early stages of a market recovery. The value of an investment can fall as well as rise. 🔍 Check out the the full article to understand the current trends and what they mean for the market: https://lnkd.in/e5P3vFtZ

The government has extended the Venture Capital Trust scheme for another decade. Venture Capital Trusts (VCTs) are an investment product designed to encourage investment into early-stage, high-potential companies 🌱 Investors in a VCT can benefit from tax reliefs, including income tax relief, tax-free dividends and capital gains. VCT investments can be high risk. Investors could lose all the money they invest. This type of investment may not be suitable for you. Tax reliefs depend on the company maintaining its VCT-qualifying status. Tax treatment depends on an investor’s personal circumstances and may change in the future. Discover more about VCTs here: https://bit.ly/3UbllJp #VentureCapitalTrusts #VCT #UKInvestment
