Yesterday we celebrated International Security Officers’ Day — an important occasion on the global calendar that honours the brave individuals who safeguard our public and private spaces.     As an FM company, security constitutes a substantial part of our business. As part of our UK&I celebration of International Security Officers’ Day — our Irish security senior leadership team have been visiting some chosen sites to thank our Security Officers.      Pictured, Zaheer Abbas and Alphons Ayelade, Security Officers with Keith Farrell, Lead Contract Manager, who visited the team this week to thank them for their hard work and dedication.     Across the island of Ireland, our security officers are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of customers in retail, transport, distribution and logistics, government, and commercial sectors. Our security officers are a visible presence, providing reassurance and customer service and often the first point of contact for thousands of shoppers, visitors, commuters and guests every day.      Lorraine O 'Neill, Security Services Director in Ireland stated:  “Today is hugely important as it allows us to thank our security officers and reflect on their incredible job. Our security officers are the heartbeat of our team. When Queen Mary University decided to temporarily transform its Mile End Campus into a hotel for summer visitors, OCS was entrusted with the contract to deliver housekeeping and portering services that elevate visitor experiences.     Recognising this as a unique opportunity to uplift the local community, we committed to recruiting from disadvantaged groups across the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.     In line with our value of unity, we formed key partnerships with employment support organisations: Employment4ALL Ltd (CIC), Maximus, Ingeus, Springboard, and Hackney Quest. Together, we organised a recruitment event on site and provided an environment of trust and respect for candidates, allowing equal opportunities for all attendees to showcase their skills and qualifications.    With aims to empower candidates, we offered immediate summer roles above the London Living Wage, providing a stepping stone for many to improve their circumstances.    This initiative aligns perfectly with our commitment to social value and mission to make people and places the best they can be.
