The UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, met the Prime Minister of Czechia, Petr Fiala, at the European Political Community meeting in Budapest yesterday. They welcomed the recent investment into Rolls-Royce SMR, which will boost their shared civil nuclear power ambition, as well as supporting British industry. The Prime Minister said that foreign direct investment such as this is critical to delivering on his number one priority for government - economic growth. The meeting follows the announcement that Rolls-Royce SMR and ČEZ would enter into a strategic partnership to deploy up to 3GW of electricity in the Czechia using Rolls-Royce SMR power plants. https://lnkd.in/eUVdfAbP

Nuclear has been the UK's leading clean power source for four days straight. During cloudy, still periods like we're currently seeing it is the only clean, reliable option we have and it's all coming from EDF (UK)'s four AGR stations, generating 4,600 MW of power. But gas is still making up 60% of the grid which is why we must ensure these stations are kept online for as long as possible, as well as delivering new projects at Sizewell C, Wylfa and a fleet of SMRs.
