Why is #renewablegeneration not resulting in cheaper #energyprices? It's not a simple answer. However, industry experts Stephen Evans † and Mark Ursell discuss - in detail - why this is down to the way the wholesale energy market operates. Watch the video here: https://nbs.energy/4hwMDn3

Today at 2pm, we’re partnering with MEUC to present a two-part webinar. The Autumn Budget - the first under The Labour Party - was one of the most anticipated in recent years. So, was there anything new for business energy users, or did it just tell us what we already know? Anthony Ainsworth shares his analysis of the key energy announcements in this article, which includes: ➡ Carbon capture utilisation and storage and green hydrogen investment ➡ Commitment to launch Great British Energy ➡ Electric vehicle incentives ➡ £163 million to continue the Industrial Energy Transformation Fund ➡ Intention to publish a Clean Power 2030 Action Plan
Autumn Budget 2024: is it a tax trick or treat for UK businesses?

Commenting on today’s Autumn Budget, Anthony Ainsworth, Chief Operating Officer at npower Business Solutions, said: “Businesses have been waiting to see if this Budget would deliver tax tricks or treats, and it’s fair to say that it is a mixed bag. From an energy and net zero perspective, the Chancellor confirmed several announcements that had already been made, including investment in carbon capture and storage (CCUS) and green hydrogen, reaffirming its commitment to launch Great British Energy, and the confirmation that clean energy is one of the government’s priority areas for economic growth, as outlined in its recent Industrial Strategy Green Paper. “When looking at the detail, the Budget also confirmed £163 million to continue the Industrial Energy Transformation Fund (IETF) over 2025-26 to 2027-28, which will be welcome news for energy intensive industries (EIIs). It also said it would maintain incentives for electric vehicles (EVs), which is good news for those businesses with electric fleets, and that the government intends to publish a more detailed Clean Power 2030 Action Plan. “That said, as well as public investment, we also know that investments made by businesses will be critical to meeting the UK’s clean power and net zero ambitions. “Many companies across the UK have already taken huge steps in decarbonising their operations. However, the concern will be that some of the measures announced today will hit the bottom line, which could have an impact on business investment in sustainability strategies and energy reduction measures. “Our latest Business Energy Tracker highlighted this issue - businesses told us they know the benefit low-carbon investments can bring, but bigger economic pressures are preventing them from doing so. Therefore, it would have been welcome to see more measures to incentivise energy efficiency, or more detailed sector plans for net zero. “Getting business behind net zero and the UK’s wider clean energy ambitions will be crucial to economic growth, so we will await more detail over the next few months.”

We've supported The Community Church Burton and District through our npower Business Solutions (nBS) Foundation. With the funding, they were able to continue to provide a food bank, youth drop-in sessions, heat and eat sessions, free meals, and support for over 1,100 community members. Commenting on funding, ANITA MIDDLETON, Community Development Manager said: “I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to nBS for their exceptional and efficient grant application and impact report process. “The support provided from beginning to end has been outstanding, and enabled us to help so many local people. Providing meals, a listening ear, or practical help, as they struggle to contend with mental health issues, isolation, loneliness, or financial hardship.”
