The NCSC has become aware of a global incident developing which relates to the latest update of CrowdStrike security software. The update is causing what is commonly referred to as a Blue Screen of Death or BSOD loop on Windows. This is a system crash, where the Window operating system can no longer operate. The issue has lead to worldwide disruption with aviation, telecommunications and media sectors impacted. CrowdStrike have advised that they have taken steps to mitigate further expansion and have given advice on how those currently experiencing issues can reboot to a normal working state.
