Tourism Northern Ireland Chief Executive John McGrillen has joined other key guests and stakeholders to officially open a new hotel in Belfast. Mr McGrillen helped cut the ribbon at voco® Belfast, which is part of IHG Hotels & Resorts. The hotel, which is based in the Gasworks in the south of the city, opened following a £3.6 million refurbishment of the former Gasworks Hotel. The hotel boasts 120 premium guest bedrooms as well as contemporary event space, with six individual rooms, ideal for meetings and small gatherings. The launch of voco® Belfast was attended by more than 200 guests including Edward McKeever, President of the Northern Ireland Hotels Federation and Janice Gault, Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Hotels Federation. Before helping with the official opening, Mr McGrillen addressed those gathered, welcoming the investment to the city’s accommodation offering as a clear signal of the confidence in the Northern Ireland tourism market. Danielle McGinley Director of Sales & Marketing at voco® Belfast, said “It’s an exciting time to open such a stylish new offering in a city that really appreciates style. “It has been a pleasure to work together with our partners to ensure that voco® Belfast stands out as a distinctive destination for guests to enjoy,” she said. “We appreciate all the input and hard work from IHG Hotels & Resorts, ODON Design, and Pure Fitout, as well as from the voco® Belfast and Cliste Hospitality teams, to allow us gather to celebrate this opening and we are very much looking forward to introducing our guests to this new upscale experience on the doorstep of everything Belfast has to offer.”
