Today is National Disability Independence Day. Our Care Services, such as our Family Support Service, Wellness Sessions and PREP (Post Rehab Exercise Programme) for stroke survivors, aim to help families affected by chest, heart and stroke conditions to rebuild their lives, confidence and independence by supporting them with practical advice, emotional support and physical rehabilitation. If you are affected by one of these conditions and could benefit from our support: 🖥 Visit www.nichs.org.uk ☎️ Call 028 9032 0184 📩 Email [email protected]

About us
Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke provides expert care and support to anyone at risk of or currently living with chest, heart and stroke conditions. We also fund local ground-breaking research into better treatments, care and prevention. Working with people of all ages across the province, we’ve been delivering our services since 1946, carrying out extensive research into how to prevent these conditions, alongside ‘on the ground’ support. As a charity, almost 90% of our work is funded thanks to donations from the public.

49 year old Gordon Riddiough, a 'larger than life' dad of two Ballycastle, tragically passed away suddenly from a heart attack earlier this year. Despite the availability of a local defibrillator, Gordon couldn’t be saved. His family, friends, and colleagues were left devastated. 'Fun-loving' and 'larger-than-life' Gordon had a passion for cosplay, and was considered a 'rock' and mentor by his colleagues. However, from Gordon's tragic death has come an inspiring legacy. His colleagues at Capita created an NICHS 'Always In Our Hearts' tribute page, raising over £3,600 to help fund the expansion of our cardiac care services in the Northern Trust. Gabrielle, Gordon’s wife, says, “Whilst painful for us left behind, his legacy will support other families facing the same pain moving forward and we know this will make a difference to others, just as he did during his life." Thank you to all the staff at Capita, and to Gordon's family and friends. While he was taken too soon, his legacy will allow us to be there for local families dealing with devastating heart conditions.
