Congratulations to Ben Moorhouse who has successfully completed his nonstop 110-mile extreme challenge walk from Wainhouse Tower in Halifax to Blackpool Tower, then to our Saint Mary’s Hospital on our Oxford Road Campus. Raising money for The Kallipateira Moorhouse Foundation, Ben and his partner Gaynor support parents who experience the death of a baby, in addition to research. Later next month Ben will be taking on Tsambika Monastery in Rhodes. A £10,000 target has been set for both extreme challenges. Donate here 🔗 https://lnkd.in/d8AV7QGh

Exciting news! ❤️ Hepatitis B Opt Out Testing at NMGH, MRI and Wythenshawe Emergency Departments is now live. To date, at MFT, we have diagnosed over 100 people with HIV and over 300 with Hepatitis C since testing began in December 2021, offering lifesaving treatment to all through our infection and liver services. HIV is a treatable, long-term condition and excellent treatment offers normal life expectancy to those diagnosed early. Hepatitis C is a virus infection that affects the liver, curable by a course of tablets taken for 8-12 weeks.

📢 We were so proud to see our Renal Transplant Department appearing on BBC News North West last night. The BBC followed the story of in-laws, Lesley and Chris, as Lesley saved her son-in-law’s life by donating her kidney to him. 📽 We allowed the BBC exclusive access to film the procedure and speak to staff, whilst Lesley and Chris were kind enough to share their powerful story for all to see. On Saturday, our Group Chairman, Kathy Cowell, and Group Chief Executive, Mark Cubbon, visited Trafford General Hospital to thank all the Elective Hub and other staff working on our Super Saturday to treat more patients. Our recently GIRFT accredited Elective Hub and focused sessions like these play a key role in making the most effective use of our theatre capacity to carry out low-complexity procedures that can be life-changing for our patients. #MFT #NHS 💙
