Last week we hosted the world’s first (un)conference looking at intersectionality as investment criteria for LGBTQ founders and migrant founders 🦄
The energy was NEXT LEVEL 🔥
#iiF2024 brought together over 200 founders and investors at Google’s stunning London HQ to explore the state of queer and migrant capital. The speakers were beyond inspiring; the wisdom, power and intelligence that they brought to our panels, roundtables and interviews. IN. AWE. 😍
Our intersecting identities and backgrounds (such as class, gender, race, ethnicity, neurodiversity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, disability, and more) can result in prejudice and discrimination that's amplified and unique to the individual.
Yet intersectionality is our strength: our unique perspectives, resilience, and ingenuity make us, and our overlooked creativity, especially commercial and deserving of investment as founders.
Thank you to our core partners who made this day possible: HSBC Innovation Banking, Google Cloud for Startups, Mishcon de Reya LLP de Reya, and Newton Venture Program, plus our brilliant Data & Insights partner Crunchbase. Craig O'Boyle, Jonette Jimenez , Cintia M., Alex Hazell, Devon Potter, Ryan Husk, thank you all so much for your support!
To our awesome impact partners Choose Love, Rainbow Railroad and TERN - The Entrepreneurial Refugee Network. Thank you for being a part of #iif2024. The work that you do is needed more than ever.
To the amazing i³ investing team: Christian Tooley our founder, thank you for your vision with iiF, the awesome mission of queering VC and for bringing me on board; Xann Schwinn, for delivering a masterclass in professional conference production, just wow; Marcus M. for your branding and design genius that I couldn't stop looking at; and Ellie B. for bringing together the investor community as speakers and contributors, with immense value for us all. And a major thank you to our fabulous team of volunteers: Aneta Pavli, Joe Hansen, Sean SHU, Audrey Lee, Harvey Hill, Rabjeet Singh Chhabra and María Camila C.
Finally, thank you to everyone who came and made the day so special. I'm particularly grateful to everyone for putting up with my weird whatsapp agenda updates throughout the day (ask anyone who went) 🤠
2024 is the year we recognise intersectionality as a founder's superpower 💪
Let's go.
