About us

Neurodiversity in Business (NiB) is an industry forum that seeks to improve the inclusion of neurodivergent people in the workforce. Led by neurodivergent experts and those with direct experience of neurodiversity from across the business community, NiB works with leading global businesses by sharing best practice. Importantly, those who are actually neurodivergent are key to this organisation to ensure that NiB keeps true to the aims of the neurodivergent community. NiB’s mission is to help develop a more inclusive workplace. Whether it is ensuring a better hiring process that does not exclude neurodivergent candidates, to helping identify easy modifications to the workplace environment that can support sustainable employment opportunities. By ensuring a more neurodiverse workforce, businesses are not simply fulfilling some corporate social responsibility programme; they materially and commercially benefit. Those from a neurodivergent background can contribute in meaningful ways to business growth through their single-mindedness, attention to detail, innovative thinking patterns, diligence and creativity. They do however require better support than is currently available – and that is where NiB can help. We know that businesses are under pressure as never before to do more for the world they operate in. But we also know that by bringing businesses together, this can be addressed effectively and ensure that everyone benefits: businesses; neurodivergent individuals and society at large.

Some days you have the chance to #ChangeTheWorld. Today is one of those days! How will you help? 💪 Please: ♻️ Repost so society becomes #NeuroInclusive. ✍️ Comment with your support. 📝Tag in ND activists and friends. There was a day in history. A beautiful day in April 2024 when the “ND Screening and Teacher Training Bill” was debated in Parliament. The early election stopped the Bill progressing and the author, Matt Hancock retired. So, we need a new ND champion in Parliament to revive this vital Bill which proposes that all neurodivergent conditions are screened for in primary school, to ensure that every neurodivergent child is identified and receives the necessary support. I’m partnering with Accessible Learning Foundation (ALF). Please add your voice and urge your MP to support the Bill’s return by tailoring this ‘MP Letter’ template (Link in comments). We often ask for society to change. Today is your opportunity to change it! Who is with us? 💪 ⁉️PS: Are you as excited as me? Let me know in the comments if you will send a letter and who your MP is? Image ID: Dan Harris (middle aged white male), standing in front of a Big Ben at night. Wording reads: could this be a day that changes the Neurodiversity movement?

The UK has a new Prime Minister, and you know what?... Having met him, I can tell you one thing. 🌟 Keir Starmer will be a Prime Minister of Neurodiversity. 🌟 Straight off the bat, he clearly expressed his understanding of the importance of a #Neuroinclusive society. I was thrilled that we both agreed on the competitive advantage for the UK where we need more innovation and creatative thinking skills to drive our future economic success. I briefed him on the journey of Neurodiversity in Business (NiB) - the Neurodiversity Charity, and he committed to making sure the Labour party supported the continued focus on #NeuroInclusion. However....... There is huge amount to do, and in a follow up meeting which I'll be arranging, we need to ensure that the voice of the ND community is heard! So, today, we need your help. Let me know in the comments: - the key topics that should be discussed; - where is society failing?; and - what would you like to see change and how? Here are a few initial themes (which are further explained in the comments): 1: Wide Consultation Phase with ND folk: “Listen, Listen and Listen” 2: The Intersectionality of Neurodiversity: “Remove long-standing bias” 3: Recognition of Wider Benefits for Society: “Promote the benefits of Neuroinclusion” 4: Mental Health and Wellbeing: “Remove the stigma” 5: Reduction of Screening and Diagnosis Barriers: “Understand us as individuals” 6: #Neurodiversity within the Workplace: “Promote #NeurodiversityInBusiness” ⁉️PS: I'm sure that this is incomplete, and missing topics close to our heart (benefits, health, criminal justice?) We need your input today. Let us know your views in the comments. 💪 OK over to you! Let's do this.....

  • 🛑 On the afternoon of 23rd July, #TeamNiB are visiting Barclays’ Glasgow campus, an office designed with #Neuroinclusion in mind. As you may remember from the BBC Radio documentary that we contributed to (link in comments), this office is a great example of neuroinclusivity in the workplace. Some of Barclays’ key considerations for the workspace include lighting, sound environment, colours, textures, accessibility via the doors, signage and fire escapes, and the overall design. This visit is an opportunity to see inclusion in action, and to network with other NIB corporate members who are leading the charge on #NeuroinclusionNow. 👉To register your interest in attending complete our the form in the comments. ⭐️Want a reminder on the initial visit last year?
