We are so happy to see this distinguished visitor 🚢 in London📍. 𝑱𝒖𝒂𝒏 𝑺𝒆𝒃𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒊á𝒏 𝒅𝒆 𝑬𝒍𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒐 is the training ship of the Spanish Navy and a true 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐲 ⚓ , named after the first seafarer to complete the circumnavigation of the earth in the XVI century. As well as training midshipmen in the art of navigation, #Elcano's voyages showcase and reinforce Spain's friendly relations with its partners, friends and allies, and therefore a symbol for us, a 𝐔𝐊 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐲 of Navantia, S.A., S.M.E 🌊   👉 The illustration was made by our colleague María Castro, #NavantiaUK Social Value & Recapitalization Manager, a Naval Architect and an expert and fan of tallships like Elcano. Her illustrations has helped fundraise for Cancer Research UK (CRUK) as she is preparing for the London10K race. This year the International Maritime Organization is focusing on #SafetyTipsAtSea on #SeaFarersDay . 🌊 In an interconnected world, #NavantiaUK would also like to focus on the non physical world and share some tips on #CyberSecurity . 💻 Today’s #seafarers rely on an ever-increasing 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 🔗 from integrated navigational bridge systems to satellite communications to safely conduct operations at sea.  With virtually every aspect of maritime operations becoming 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱  and internet connectivity at sea becoming even more common with networks increasingly becoming interconnected, it is important for seafarers to be trained in the aim of 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀. 🚨 These are our #safetytips for 𝗰𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗮:    ➡ 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐮𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞: Malicious software can gain access to a ship’s systems via either digital or physical means. All onboard hardware and software should be scanned for virus. ➡ 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: A vessel’s network could be compromised by directly connecting a personal device such as a flash drive or connecting their phone into a USB port to charge it. All devices and hardware must be scanned before connecting to any ship’s equipment. ➡ 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐲𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐖𝐢-𝐅𝐢 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐞: Avoid the use of free public Wi-Fi that could allow hackers to easily relay between the users and the connection point. ➡ 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐮𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞: Consistently update all software with the latest security updates available to provide a robust defence against the latest discovered vulnerabilities. ➡ 𝐂𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥: Certain crew members should be designated for cyber security and response to prevent and respond to breaches. Seafarers must understand company policy and the immediate chain of command to report any incidents or suspicions to responsible individuals. Recognising 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁-𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 in the maritime industry is imperative in today’s ever increasing volatile 𝗴𝗲𝗼-𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲. This week it has been a great pleasure to attend the 𝟭𝟯𝟳 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the United Kingdom along with our colleagues from Navantia Seanergies . The event, held at One Great George Street, welcomed more than 𝟮𝟱𝟬 𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀, including Spanish and British business representatives.
