Our New Malden branch opened its doors in 1981, and if you’ve visited over the past thirty years, it’s likely you will have met our brilliant Customer Representative, Nina. Forty-three years on, and we’re still there as the last banking branch in town. As part of our Branch Promise, everywhere we have a branch, we’ll still be there until at least the start of 2028. Find out more here http://spr.ly/60449H69i - Our Branch Promise is subject to any circumstances beyond Nationwide’s control. Opening hours may vary. For more visit http://spr.ly/60449H69i

What's the similarity between music festival tickets, and banking providers in Glastonbury? They're both rare and hard to come by. We remain as the last banking branch in town, and it'll remain that way until at least the start of 2028 through our branch promise. And yes, you are seeing three Shania Twain impersonators *cough* we mean branch colleagues. - Our branch promise is subject to any circumstances beyond Nationwide’s control. Opening hours may vary. In celebration of Pride month, we’ve been talking to members of our Pride Network about the importance of allyship. Emily, Pride Network Co-Chair said, “For me allyship is incredibly important. It’s about standing beside others and understanding them - our customers and our colleagues. It’s being a voice for others when they aren’t in the room. It’s advocating for more than just the needs and desires of ourselves and making work and life a better place for everyone.” Through the Pride Network, we champion allyship. Jordan, Pride Support Lead said, “Allies are an integral part of the Pride Network. The great thing about our allies is that they are all a part of the community, whether you’re a card-carrying member of the LGBTQIA community, or not; we’re all allies to each other. To me allyship is a universal concept, I’m an advocate of ally to one; ally to all, with the key concepts of allyship applying across all our networks.”

We’ve launched our new social impact programme, ‘Nationwide Fairer Futures’, which has been shaped by our purpose – banking, but fairer, more rewarding, and for the good of society. Life can deal people an unfair hand at any time, so we’re committed to making a difference across generations, in partnership with three transformational charities: • We've partnered with Centrepoint because, as a building society, we know how important it is to have a home and the difference it can make to people’s lives. • We've partnered with Action for Children because we believe nobody should be living in poverty, least of all families bringing up children. • We've partnered with Dementia UK because we want every family affected by dementia to have access to specialist support at what can be a lonely and frightening time. Debbie Crosbie, our Chief Executive Officer, said: “Nationwide is committed to improving lives and strengthening communities. Our new Fairer Futures social impact programme will support even more people who have been dealt an unfair hand."

During May, we saw a 0.4% month-on-month rise in house prices, seeing a slight increase in the annual rate of house price growth to 1.3%. The average UK house price now stands at £264,249. Robert Gardner, our Chief Economist, commented "The market appears to be showing signs of resilience in the face of ongoing affordability pressures following the rise in longer term interest rates in recent months. Consumer confidence has improved noticeably over the last few months, supported by solid wage gains and lower inflation." Read more: http://spr.ly/6040eWrwE

Today we have announced our full year results. We’re making good progress against our new strategy and purpose we set last year: Banking - but fairer, more rewarding, and for the good of society. Our financial performance last year remained strong, enabling us to provide our customers with great value products, choice in the way they bank with us, and simply brilliant service. Our CEO, Debbie Crosbie, commented, “We have made excellent progress in delivering our new strategy. We delivered our highest ever member value and our strong financial performance means we can extend the ways that members benefit from our success.” You can find out more here: http://spr.ly/6181d2MU1

At Nationwide we believe in making banking accessible, inclusive and fairer for all. We recognise that not everyone will transact or communicate in the same way, which is why we have: • Launched British Sign Language (BSL) translations of our web pages, in partnership with Signly. • Joined forces with charities and accessibility organisations to launch signingbanks.uk • Promised to keep every branch open until at least the start of 2028, because we know face-to-face banking is important. In this video Tash, our Wellington Branch Manager and Ruth, a Nationwide Member, discuss their experience of communicating using BSL in the branch. #DeafAwarenessWeek - Our branch opening hours may vary. Branch Promise excludes circumstances beyond our control. For verification see https://lnkd.in/eC-Qhn6E.

Over the past year, almost half of prospective first-time buyers have delayed their plans to buy a home. This comes as house prices fell by 0.4% in April compared to March according to our monthly House Price Index. Robert Gardner, our Chief Economist, commented, “The most commonly cited reason amongst those having to delay their plans to buy a home is that house prices are too high (53%), though 41% said that higher mortgage costs were preventing them from buying and a third cited deposit as a barrier”. As The One and Only branch in Windsor, we asked Chesney Hawkes to announce the winner of our Windsor Community Fund. The £10,000 raised will be spent on the installation of a local ‘pocket park’, which aims to bring an area of green space into the town centre - as voted for by local residents. Mandy Beech MBA, our Director of Retail Services, commented “The Windsor Community Fund is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to the local community that has stuck with us over the years, since our branch on William Street opened in 1979. A physical branch is not just about accessing money, it’s about being a part of the local community, supporting local people and businesses, and being there to provide a friendly, face-to-face service when our members need us."
