It sounds like you had a fantastic experience at #FIA2024 Becky! Here's to more exciting developments and collaborations ahead and looking forward for continued growth in this exciting sector. 🚀 #SpaceWest #Space #FIA2024 The Space West programme is hosted by the National Composites Centre, in partnership with West of England Combined Authority, CFMS, the University of Bath, the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England.
I had a great first #FIA2024 this week. I was kindly hosted on the Invest Bristol & Bath stand and spent a busy couple of days taking businesses and individuals on 'walk arounds' of the space zone- introducing businesses to the great and good in the sector. Secretary of State, Peter Kyle's keynote address was welcome news to the sector highlighting the plan to move away from short term funding cycles and to focus on key areas, creating clear signals for investment in the UK. Monday was topped off by a fantastic networking event hosted by the South West Space Partnership, a collaboration between #spacewest, Invest Bristol & Bath and Cornwall Space Cluster. Thanks to all 90 of you who joined us in the warmth of the Skylounge! A particular shout out to the fabulous Georgia Jaggs and the fantastic Halo team for bringing it together! Always great to be working with Gail Eastaugh- the queen of the space cluster leads! Many connections made and international leads to follow up on!

Exciting developments from Vertical Aerospace - congratulations! Did you know National Composites Centre expertise significantly contributed to the development of #critical #components for Vertical Aerospace’s VX4 electric aircraft #prototype, helping to de-risk their path to #certification? More about our work ➡ nccuk.com/VX4 Talk to our team about your #UAM ambitions: [email protected] More on our capabilities: nccuk.com/FIA24 #VerticalAerospace #Aviation #FIA2024 #UAM
We are wheels up! Vertical is delighted that at 17:45 on Thursday 25th July, we successfully conducted the first piloted flight of the new, more advanced VX4 aircraft. The new prototype performed a piloted flight while loosely tethered to the ground, during which Vertical measured over 20,000 flight and system parameters to verify thrust, handling qualities and system performance. This also makes Vertical’s Chief Test Pilot, Justin Paines, the only pilot to have flown two different eVTOLs. An enormous amount of hard work and determination from the whole team has made this possible as we reach the first step on our flight test programme towards piloted transition. #VX4 #eVTOL #FlightTest
