Meet Dr Eva Sedlarova from mydentist Barnoldswick - like many of our clinicians, Dr Eva has found a hobby that helps her unwind and maintain a healthy work-life balance outside of practice. From agility to trick training, Dr Eva is passionate about training her two pooches, Matilda and Beatrix, to run circles around their competitors in the ring. With 19% of Brits saying it's their pets that bring a smile to their face*, it's no surprise that Dr Eva feels it's "vital to her mental health" to have a hobby she loves to keep her busy outside of work. Given how cute Matilda and Beatrix are, we can see why! Dr Eva was invited to a dog training event by a fellow practice team member, from then on, it was love at first sight. She says, "dentistry is a stressful profession and it's important to have a hobby and to switch off." We couldn't agree more. Last Wednesday, we officially opened and celebrated our newest practice in St Neots! ✨ Our CEO, Nilesh Pandya, joined our Director of Region, Geoff Liyanage, Area Development Manager Jon Day, Practice Manager Charlotte Anthony and her wonderful team to cut the ribbon and officially open the doors of the new practice. Through an investment of £1.5 million, the practice was relocated to a bigger site, through which four new dentists were able to be recruited to work in the new, state-of-the-art facilities. The number of surgeries in the practice has doubled - increasing from five to ten, meaning the team can now offer their 15,000 patients accessible, modern surroundings that are every bit as welcoming as its brilliant team. Because the number of surgeries and dentists has increased, the practice will also be able to expand its NHS capacity in November! We’re thrilled to announce that Humnah Javid, a dedicated self-employed associate dentist at mydentist Glossop, will join a team of passionate volunteer dentists on a heartwarming journey to Uganda! From September 24th to October 3rd, Humnah and her colleagues will set up dental clinics in Uganda's schools, orphanages, and community centres. In a country where just 320 dentists serve a population of 45 million, their work will provide essential care and vital education on oral health. Inspiringly, Humnah has already met her initial fundraising goal of £2000, which will help cover clinic costs, essential supplies, and support for local partners. Meet Dr Dimitra Markopoulou - dedicated dentist and olive oil farmer. Originally from Sparta, South Peloponnese, Dimitra joined mydentist in 2018. But before she was a dentist, Dimitra grew up participating in olive harvesting in her home town in Southern Greece. Today, she manages 20 acres of olive groves across multiple locations, many in her small village, Sellasia. Her olive oil business has been running successfully in the UK for four years, making a notable impact in local farm shops. Dimitra appreciates the support and flexibility mydentist offers her, allowing her to balance her career and her passions.“Mydentist has always been a great place to work and I have always felt looked after and supported.” Although Dimitra says she feels the pressures of a busy career from time to time, she says "I make sure I prioritise my mental and physical health and take breaks to spend time on activities that bring me joy." #mydentist #dentistry
