Last week our colleague Dino Pezzella spoke at the Global Energy Transition Congress and Exhibition in Milan, #Italy as part of a roundtable on the growing demand for power and its implications on global electrification and net zero goals. In recent weeks the #EU has made huge strides in creating the conditions for the European #hydrogen market to scale. Common internal market rules 📋 are now in place for #renewable and low-carbon #gases and #hydrogen, reforming the existing EU gas legislation. Mitsubishi Power is proud to be part of the #UK's Zero Carbon Humber Partnership which brings together partners from across the energy value chain all focused on creating the world’s first #netzero industrial cluster by 2040. #MitsubishiPower is developing the technology to convert the fuel for hydrogen co-firing in three #MitsubishiPower #gas turbine units at the 1200MW #GTCC natural gas power plant that provides power for the region, significantly lowering its carbon footprint. Overall, Zero Carbon Humber could reduce the UK’s annual emissions by 15%. The #hydrogen produced at H2H (Hydrogen to Humber) Saltend will blend with natural gas at Equinor and SSE Thermal's on-site Triton power station using #MitsubishiPower technology. In #Europe, coal-fired power generation is still a major source of #power. By converting coal-fired plants to gas, emissions can be reduced by 50-70%. Mitsubishi Power’s large frame JAC gas turbines, which are fully adaptable for #hydrogen, can further reduce emissions. By running on up to 30% hydrogen, a further 10% emissions reduction is possible. As we make progress towards blending 100% #hydrogen firing, we will realize #zero emissions at the point of generation - a major step forward for power generation and a low carbon future.
