🚨 Uncovering the Hidden Barrier to True #Inclusion 🚨 At MindGym, our latest Inclusion Index, powered by insights from over 13,000 global users, reveals a critical issue: while people of color report a strong sense of #belonging, they often don't feel psychologically safe to express their unique differences. This challenge isn't just confined to lower job levels; sadly, it's even more pronounced for people of color in executive roles. What does this mean for organizations? When individuals feel unsafe, they may engage in #maskingKenji Yoshino describes this as the act of muting, editing, or managing one's true identity. This behavior can significantly harm mental health and perpetuate cultures of assimilation, where the expectation is to conform rather than promote differences. True inclusion isn't about everyone fitting the same mold but about valuing both individual uniqueness and collective pride. Let's work towards a culture where differences are celebrated and #psychologicalsafety is a given. 🌟 #MindGymAnalytics #Leadership #Culture

Bridging the Gap Our Chief Behavioural Science Officer, Janet N. Ahn, PhD, reveals new data from MindGym's Inclusion Index. She highlights how the psychological safety gap between people of color and white employees impacts the willingness of many to speak out against popular opinions and express themselves at work. #Inclusion #Diversity

💡 Insights drop! At MindGym, we define #inclusion as a balance between feeling safe to express your individuality (uniqueness) and feeling integrated into the larger group (belonging). Our proprietary Inclusion Index data from over 13,000 users (based in the US and UK) revealed that overall, people feel uncomfortable sharing their unique differences at work. However, a concerning pattern emerged for people of color. While people of color report a strong sense of belonging—on par with their white colleagues—they feel less psychologically safe (than their white colleagues) to be themselves or speak out against popular opinion. The identified root causes: ✴ They feel they cannot engage in meaningful conversations about diversity and inclusion at work.  ✴ They are uncomfortable sharing their backgrounds, beliefs, and cultural experiences at work.    Thoughts? I’d appreciate your feedback on these findings! #MindGymAnalytics

Data from our proprietary Inclusion Index reveals a sharp decline in psychological safety as women advance to director-level positions. Our Chief Behavioural Science Officer, Janet N. Ahn, PhD, identifies a key factor contributing to this issue: the behaviour of their managers. #Leadership #Inclusion

Horrible bosses? MindGym's proprietary Inclusion Index uncovered a psychological safety gap at the top between men and women. We drilled into this further – specifically looking into the experience for women in director-level roles. The key difference in women’s experience of psych safety at the director level (compared to those in other groups), came down to manager behavior. Examples of how we operationalized and defined manager behavior: - I can count on my manager to support me in all aspects of my job  - My manager treats everyone equally  - My manager creates an environment where everyone feels safe There's hope! Managers have the power to shape an extremely positive experience for employees. Do you have positive stories about your manager? Please share them with me in the comments! #MindGymAnalytics
