Here is another example of a co-creation film project we've been working on recently with CottonConnect. We've trained their teams around the world who are then briefed to go in to the field and film, quite literally!! The footage is then sent to us to edit. This is just one of a series of films we have been working on with them that helps them tell their stories and bring their work to life. This particular film is about their REEL Cotton programme in Egypt and their partnership with The White Company. During the film you hear from the partners involved, but you also hear from the farmers about the benefits of the programme and the differences it is making to their lives. How are you, or could you, use co-creation to help tell your organisations stories? If you would like to discuss some ideas then please message 'cocreation' below. #Cocreation #Storytelling #Sustainability #Partnership #ImpactReporting

At CottonConnect, we're happy to partner with The White Company to enhance #Egyptiancotton through our REEL Cotton programme. Launched in 2022, our REEL programme in Egypt has grown from supporting 145 smallholder farmers to empowering 350 farmers! The REEL Cotton Code, a three-year training programme, equips farmers with sustainable practices that reduce water usage and environmental impact. Our partnerships with local organisations, such as the Cotton Research Institute and Elekhlas, ensure transparency, traceability, and strong farmer relationships. This is a great example of how collaborations can be a win-win for all involved. Farmers gain valuable skills, the environment thrives, and The White Company accesses high-quality, sustainably produced cotton. Together, we're weaving a more sustainable future for Egyptian cotton, one thread at a time. Watch our programme video to learn more about our work in Egypt. #Egyptiancotton #REELcotton #CottonConnect #Sustainability #Sustainbalecotton #cotton #bedsheets #Egypt #home #fashion

Sometimes it’s the smallest things isn’t? Can I admit I geeked out about whiteboards yesterday? Ruth McDermott and I ran the Mile 91 impact storytelling workshop for The Q community at The Health Foundation. An energising morning being in the room with such a thoughtful team who had excellent questions. We really loved seeing them think through how to bring issues to life and simplify the data with stories about people. But the whiteboard desks pleased me more than I should admit in public. I want one for my office now. I would have permanently inky arms like a primary school child. And I just loved these accessibility badges, freely available at reception to dip into if you have the need. Bravo! #impactstorytelling

This is a film we made with Apps for Good recently and I wanted to share it with a few thoughts. Normally I don't really like filming/photographing events, as it feels like there are better stories and visuals to be had when talking about the work people and organisations are doing. However, this event is part of the story, this event is the ‘Climate Change and Digital Innovation Summit’, which is the culmination of weeks of hard work from the students and provides them with an opportunity to present and share their ideas with industry experts. It's the final where the winners and runners up will be chosen. It's also not the only filming and photography Apps for Good are doing. Events can provide an excellent way of capturing lots of soundbites quickly and efficiently. In this film you hear from a range of stakeholders, teachers and students from different schools. Not all the voices and soundbites could fit in to this film because we wanted to keep it quite short. However they will get used in other ways, whether that’s in shorter versions for social media, or as written quotes. Tomorrow we are in a school capturing photos of the students learning and it’s this layering of content that you get from regular story gathering. This then enables Apps for Good to talk about their work and the impact it’s having across all their various communication platforms. The other benefit of course is you're not using the same photos and quotes across all your channels all year. Want help communicating your impact? Please comment below or send us a DM. #Storytelling #ContentCreation #ImpactReporting #Filmmaking

🌳 'Wilding' is a beautiful, emotional film that tells the story of Knepp Estate, one of the most significant rewilding experiments in Europe. 🦋 Based on a book by Isabella Tree, it shows us what can happen when you rewild at scale. 🌱 Whilst we don't all have a castle, there is a way for all of us to bring nature back into our lives and reap the benefits. 📽 'Wilding' launched last week at my local picture house, in Bath (see link below). Other screenings will become available from 14 June: https://lnkd.in/ehwDedTT #rewilding #backnature #mentalhealth https://lnkd.in/esX-BtST

Filmmaking has never been more accessible and this opens up so many opportunities to be more collaborative. We had a quick count up recently and discovered that we’ve trained people in more than 12 countries in the last few years and actually you can add Kenya to this list, because we’ve got someone filming in a community today. With the right training people can quickly learn how to film high quality footage on their phones. By working collaboratively we can enhance our storytelling, but there are lots of other benefits too, like a smaller carbon footprint, more authentic storytelling and of course it helps foster connections and shared learning experiences, as well as being great fun! How are you using co-creation in your projects? Share your stories below! 👇 #CoCreation #SmartphoneFilmmaking #Collaboration #CreativeCommunity #DigitalInnovation #Storytelling

Being a filmmaker I’m often asked what the best phone is for filming. The truth is most modern phones will film in high definition now and will have more than one lens, giving you some creative options. Interestingly, I’m rarely asked about microphones and yet people are more forgiving of poor visuals than they are or poor audio. My top tip if you are looking to improve your filmmaking for 2024 is to buy yourself a lapel microphone, invest in a bit of training and then start a few personal projects. We can help kick start you with our next online Smartphone Filmmaking course, coming up soon. I’ll begin by recommending a few bits of kit that will make a big difference. I will then teach you some techniques that we have learnt and used over the last 15 years. Over lunch you will then shoot some footage and in the afternoon I will show you how to edit and by the end of the day you will have shot and edited your own one minute film. We’ve now taught over 1,000 people in more that 12 countries how to shoot and edit on their phones and we would love you to join us. Sign up to join me online, Thursday 25th July 2024, https://lnkd.in/d2fDFteU #SmartphoneFilmmaking #OnlineTraining #MobileFilmmaking #PhoneFilming #TopTip #RecordingGoodAudio

“I was diagnosed in 2008 but in fact I started getting symptoms in 2000.” This is what Sanae told us when we visited her at her home in Morocco whilst doing some story gathering for MS International Federation (MSIF). Delayed MS diagnosis became a common theme as we interviewed more people in-person in Morocco and Malaysia and then a host of other countries through our online interviews. Globally the most common barrier to getting an early diagnosis of MS is a lack of awareness of MS symptoms among the public and healthcare professionals. One powerful way to highlight global barriers to diagnosing MS, is to share real stories of people living with MS. Today is World MS Day and so we thought we’d share some stories of the people we’ve met who are living with MS. Their stories are incredibly powerful and we feel a responsibility to help their voices be heard. Please take a moment to read, like and share to help get these stories out there and raise awareness. Early diagnosis will then hopefully lead to earlier treatment. Link in the comments. #AccessToMedicines #MSTreatmentsForAll #GlobalHealth #WorldMSDay #MyMSDiagnosis #Storytelling #Storygathering
