About us
We are enabling children around the world to get creative with technology and invent in school, in clubs and at home! The micro:bit is a handheld, fully programmable computer given to every Year 7 child across the UK - and now being used around the world. It’s 70 times smaller and 18 times faster than the original BBC Micro computers used in schools in the early 1980s. Started by the BBC and a great team of partners, the Micro:bit Educational Foundation is a non-profit organisation.

📰 Earlier this year, the STEMUP Educational Foundation launched the micro:bit in Libraries programme across all of Sri Lanka, to increase access to micro:bits, specifically to empower disadvantaged children with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in the digital age. STEMUP raised the funds to expand the initiative by partnering with F5 and worked with the National Library of Sri Lanka to extend the program nationwide. #microbit #SriLanka #DigitalSkills #STEMUPFoundation #STEMeducation #TechForGood #DigitalSkillsGap #microbitCHAMPIONS #f5 #MicrobitInLibraries Prabhath Mannapperuma
