Mesothelioma UK is a charity dedicated to providing specialist information, support & education, and to improving care.
About us
Mesothelioma UK is a national specialist resource centre, specifically for the asbestos-related cancer, mesothelioma. The Charitable Incorporated Organisation is dedicated to providing specialist mesothelioma information, support and education, and to improving care and treatment for all UK mesothelioma patients and their carers. The charity integrates into NHS front line services to ensure specialist mesothelioma nursing is available at the point of need. This is achieved through a growing network of specialist mesothelioma nurses, regionally based in NHS hospitals but funded by Mesothelioma UK.

The response so far to the Mesothelioma UK Patient Experience Survey has been amazing, but we still need your help. By registering on Your Health Companion, you can help improve the care of mesothelioma patients across the UK. Your Health Companion allows you to capture, manage and monitor how you are feeling, and that information can be used by Mesothelioma UK to help nurses and care teams develop better programmes to meet the needs of patients. Find out more and complete our survey here: https://lnkd.in/eyg9uV88 #MesotheliomaUK #CancerInfo #QualityOfLife #Wellbeing #DriveChange #DigitalDiary #PatientExperience #CancerNursing DaSH-Global

Mesothelioma is not one of the main forms of lung cancer, but it is a cancer that can affect the lining covering the lungs (the pleura). This is called pleural mesothelioma. Exposure to asbestos is responsible for 9 out of 10 cases of mesothelioma and you don’t have to have worked directly with it to be at risk. It is important to raise awareness about the dangers posed by asbestos as exposure can result in an avoidable cancer often decades after exposure. If you have new or changes in symptoms such as cough and breathlessness that last more than a few weeks, please seek medical advice. "Most people with these symptoms will not have cancer, but it is advisable to get checked out to be sure,” says Leah Taylor, Head of Nursing, Mesothelioma UK. If you have any questions or need us to point you in the right direction, please get in touch via any of the contact points on the website at www.mesothelioma.uk.com #LungCancerAwarenessMonth #mesothelioma #asbestos

Thank you so much to everyone that joined us in Leeds earlier this month for our Community Dinner and 19th Annual Patient Carer Day. We were joined by patients, their families, industry experts, clinicians, lawyers and nurses for a fabulously sociable evening followed by a day of information, support and expert knowledge. A big thank you to our generous and supportive event sponsors, our fantastic speakers and the dedicated Mesothelioma UK team for bringing everything together💙

Would you like to help with a research study ? NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research) are assisting with the design of a new study. They are very keen to focus on the needs of the patient and their family so would like input from people who have lived experience (in the UK) of mesothelioma - as a patient or carer. Full details of how to take part can be found here https://ow.ly/o3yR50TXhQY Closing date to apply is Monday 4 November.
