[Case Study 💡] Today, we’re excited to share an extraordinary project that’s bound to captivate your attention. Konya Şeker, Turkey’s largest sugar producer, has modernised logistics operations in its Çumra centre with a 38-metre-tall automated warehouse in an area prone to seismic activity. Connected to the production lines, the automated facility streamlines the daily distribution of 2,000 pallets 📦 containing chocolates and biscuits. Building a warehouse of this magnitude on a site with such a high degree of earthquake activity as Konya posed a #challenge for Mecalux’s structural engineering department. It demanded tremendous precision during the assembly process. The racking was reinforced, and sturdier central frames were employed to absorb the dynamic forces caused by potential seismic movements. One of the greatest advantages of automating Konya Şeker’s warehouse is its integration with the manufacturing centre. To maintain a continuous flow of movements, a 6-metre-high raised tunnel connects the outputs from the chocolate and biscuit production lines directly to the warehouse. With #EasyWMS, Konya Şeker maintains tighter control over its 48,000 pallets. This advanced warehouse management system plays a pivotal role in accelerating operations while ensuring error-free processes. 💡 Want to learn more? [Breaking News 🚨] Mecalux teams up with PepsiCo for a warehouse revolution in #Belgium! 🏭 Future-ready solutions: The Belgian entity of PepsiCo decided to overhaul its logistics operations by building a fully automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) to house the daily production of 2 million bags of crisps and other snacks in its Veurne plant.
