A great initiative from our member Simon Pritchard of Philtronics Ltd . New talent is absolutely vital for the sector. That’s why Manufacturing Wales takes skills and talent development so seriously. Well done Simon and the team- walking the talk.
How are we encouraging young people to start a career in electronics manufacturing? ✅ providing fully funded apprenticeships ✅ employment of Network75 students ✅ promoting internal pathways to local schools and colleges as an alternative to academia ✅ investing in local talent by providing upskilling opportunities ✅ working with Coleg y Cymoedd to support students Nurturing local talent is crucial in ensuring that our future generations can thrive and progress in our industry. Some amazing thought leadership from our member Alison Orrells, The Safety Letterbox Company (RENZ UK) - leading UK manufacturer of SIB, mailboxes and parcelboxes #womeninmanufacturing #iwd2024 #womenempoweringwomen
CEO, Managing Director, NED, Chair. Passionate about Business, Built Environment, Design, E,D & I and Mental health initiatives. Happy to collaborate, support, cultivate, grow business and organisations.
Why does it exist ? Why isn't there an International Mens Day ? .....these are comments we all hear of course ....but the actual reality is that people across the globe are just not treated as equal. There is inability to progress, pay differences, barriers, judgement, comments and remarks and even violence. Thankfully not at SLB. Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Fairness is all that is required. This is why we support this day to say we recognise that everyone stands together to get the best chance. Whatever your gender, race or anything else, if you operate professionally with the right skill and knowledge, aptitude and attitude you can succeed, everyone together, as equals. There are differences in approach, different abilities and different strengths but that mix compliments each other and results in a great team and doesn't actually mean one is naturally more superior because of gender or anything else. This is deep rooted and what generations have always witnessed and experienced. Until you have those experiences you cannot grasp it, but its a bit like being excluded or bullied, ridiculed or just treated differently, so you often see women working extra hard to prove your worth and juggling so many commitments. I have personally witnessed and experienced different treatments endless times. It's not just in one sector or class or country - its been everywhere and thankfully its changing, you can see and feel that people are naturally just getting on with it without that stigma or judgement. But sadly it goes on and of course in many countries and cultures it is horrendous, so we support that push for equality and inclusivity by supporting International Women's Day and to encourage young females to be confident, think outside the box and we welcome them to work in sectors that they maybe would have thought was not a space for them.
