✨ What can your Will do? ✨ "You see a shift in a young carer when you ask about them - how they feel, not just their family members. At first, they seem confused, but then a flood of emotions comes pouring out. In our activity groups, they start off quiet, but by the second session, they realise they’re in a space where they’re understood. They get to build themselves up - not just as a carer, but as a person." Your Will can help create more of these life-changing spaces and activities for young carers to find friendship, be themselves and feel seen. So, what can your Will do? It can do wonders. 👉 Write your FREE Will today: https://ow.ly/PWvT50Tglq7 or give us a call at 020 4525 3605 and quote “Making Space” to book a phone or in-person appointment.

🌿 Gardens and green spaces are essential for mental health - they offer a peaceful retreat, reduce stress, lift moods, and promote mindfulness. Considering that, we'd like to say thank you to B&Q St Helens for their generous £1,000 donation to our Sherdley Court scheme! This contribution allowed us to purchase plants, compost, pots, planters, garden chairs, and more. Even better, six fantastic volunteers from B&Q joined us to transform our outdoor space, creating a brighter and more welcoming environment for our residents, visitors, and colleagues. 🌸 The transformation is truly remarkable, and we’re encouraging residents to take ownership by helping maintain the garden and keeping it looking its best. The positive impact is already clear for everyone who enjoys the space! 🌱 #CommunitySupport #GardensForWellbeing #MentalHealthMatters #Sustainability #Collaboration

✍️Happy National Poetry Day! Today is National Poetry Day, a chance for all of us to share in the pleasure of poetry. To mark the day, we’re excited to share a heartfelt poem written by Alan, one of our talented tenants from one of our Blackpool Supported Living Services. Alan's poem was inspired by a recent day trip to the historic Lancaster Castle, capturing his reflections and experiences in a truly wonderful way 🏰 Towering over an ancient city, The Castle looming, brooding, How many poor souls ended there? A stonework prison with many a cell, A castle witness to horrors, Beyond the modern mind, Beyond the pale, Stones witness to events, From medieval times, Shadows of the past, of medieval kings, The suffering of many generations, The castle still towering, Looming and brooding, But now over a modern city of new and old, The view from the priory church over the valley to the bay, What a view on an autumn day, A church of reflection for generations, A church of furnishings and fittings, The castle still towering, looming, brooding. 🌟 Honouring the remarkable Sandra on International Day of Older People! As we celebrate the integral role older people play in our communities, we’re proud to shine a light on Sandra, an 80-year-young volunteer in Rotherham who embodies dedication and passion for making a difference. In 2022, Sandra was awarded the Pride of Britain Award for raising over £50,000 for dementia services in Rotherham. She plays a key role in the Carers Time Out day, offering carers of people living with dementia a well-earned break while volunteers provide support. Even during lockdown, Sandra’s commitment didn’t waver - she opened a Charity Tuck Shop, and today, along with her family, she continues to run a charity shop selling upcycled goods to fundraise for dementia services. Sandra is a true example that age is no barrier to making an impact, and her dedication continues in memory of her late husband, who passed away from dementia over 10 years ago. Thank you, Sandra, for your unwavering support and inspiration. 💖 Find out about volunteering: https://ow.ly/SbMf50Tvehh. #InternationalDayOfOlderPersons #Volunteering #WeAreMakingSpace

🌟 Celebrating International Day of Older People! On this special day, we recognise the invaluable contributions of older people and this year’s UK theme: “The part we play”, celebrating the essential role they play in our communities. At Making Space, we are proud of our older volunteers, including Ian from Bolton, who serves as a Co-production Champion. Co-production is all about collaboration - where people who use our services work alongside staff to design and improve them, ensuring every voice is heard and valued. Ian, a keen artist, recently donated a pieces highlighting the vital role volunteers and carers play, now on display at our HQ and at Bolton Hospital. 🎨 Learn more about co-production: https://ow.ly/hNPL50Tve1M. 🎨 A creative and mindful day This week, our Kingshill Residential Home in Standish, Greater Manchester hosted a special art session with Emma from Let’s Shape Our Creativity. Residents and staff were guided through an amazing book-folding activity, where they transformed donated books into adorable hedgehogs! 📚🦔 The session was a huge hit, and our residents are already eager to have Emma back for another creative session. Emma, who is passionate about mental health and wellbeing, shared a bit about why her work is so close to her heart: "Arts and crafts saved me during difficult times, helping me battle isolation, anxiety, and depression. Let’s Shape Our Creativity was founded to make these sessions accessible to everyone, offering a chance to be mindful, learn new skills, and connect with others." These activities do so much more than just spark creativity - they help our residents practice mindfulness, cope with everyday stresses, and create moments of joy and connection 💛 A big thank you to Emma for such a wonderful session, and we can’t wait to welcome her back soon! #MindfulnessThroughCreativity #MentalHealthMatters
