What is carbon insetting — and why is it becoming so popular? 🔥 Lune logistics lead, Maria Lacalle Muls, explains 👇 Carbon insetting means funding emission reduction within a company's value chain. However, nowadays the more widely accepted definition is to fund emission reductions within your company’s sector. It cross-pollinates climate action. Plus, you can use high quality carbon insetting to make emission reduction claims, confidently. Thank you to Narte-Adjoka Nartey and Quintin Barnes from the Smart Freight Centre, and our partner Martijn Smeets from CargoClub for sharing their insight with us! Do you think carbon insetting has a part to play in net zero? #Insetting #ESG #Logistics #Scope3 #Decarbonise

Team leaders — can strong ESG credentials plug talent gaps? 🔌⚡️ The logistics sector has a talent gap. It’s growing 9.35% YoY, but only 8% of 11 - 20-year-olds see it as a career opportunity. That’s bad for business. Here’s the insight Graeme Doyle, Managing Partner at The Logistics Partnership Recruitment and MVP recruitment, shared with Lune Logistics Lead, Alexandra Prickett. “Over the past 5 years, I’ve noticed a marked increase in candidates quizzing me on my clients’ green credentials; a strong sustainability strategy is becoming an expectation before taking a role with an organisation.” Strong ESG credentials are expected; No ESG credentials are a deal-breaker. 🤿 Want to make watertight green claims? Understanding ex-ante carbon credits will help. Ex-ante carbon credits are issued for emissions reductions or carbon removal that will take place in the future. They are a hugely important mechanism for funding innovative carbon removal technologies. 📈 Scaling these solutions is essential for meeting net zero. Let's dive in! 💡

Thousands of transport emission calculations are wrong because of the Red Sea Crisis 🚢  — why? Distance x Emission Factor x Load = Shipment Emissions Usually, the shortest feasible distance is used to calculate shipment emissions. But what if your shipment is diverted around Africa rather than cutting through the Suez Canal because of the Red Sea Crisis? 🚨 The voyage no longer takes the shortest feasible distance. Now, your distance — and therefore your emission calculations — are completely out of whack 😰 (by ~ 30% in this case!) By using vessel tracking, Lune captures more accurate distances and de-skews the calculations. Let’s put this into action… Say a 20 tonne shipment is travelling from Singapore to Rotterdam on the vessel EVER AIM, we can compare the emission estimates created by three different distance scenarios. 🔵 1.40 tCO2e, calculated using shortest distance (via Suez) 🔵 1.29 tCO2e, calculated using vessel tracking (via Suez) 🔵 1.74 tCO2e, calculated using vessel tracking (via the Cape) Only accurate emission calculations can inform decision-useful reports, effective decarbonisation strategies, and action ESG goals. What do you think about using vessel tracking to enhance the accuracy of emission calculations? #Logistics #Scope3 #Transport #Maritime #Sustainability

Did you know industry-standard flight emission estimates can be ± 50% inaccurate? 😦 That’s like setting a budget of $100 for your weekly groceries, but you could spend anywhere from $50 to $150 due to price fluctuations. Suddenly, that ± 50% really matters — and it’s the same for flight estimates. That’s why Lune’s enhanced flight emissions estimates now eclipse industry standards. Lune Software Engineer, Rúben Aguiar, shares how ➡️ If we want to change the climate status quo, we must go above and beyond industry standards. We need to raise the bar, and then raise the bar again. Would love to know your thoughts on the update! #Aviation #CSRD #AirFreight #BusinessTravel #Scope3
