London Tech Week reposted this
Leading a New World: Shaping Tomorrow with Technology I was honoured to open Day Three of London Tech Week. As a global speaker since 2012, it was a privilege to launch Leadership Day on such a significant stage. Building the One Earth Global platform made me realise the immense responsibility that comes with technological development. Leading in this New World means our technology must embrace new ways of building communities in this modern era. We live in a world of constant change, where the only certainty is change itself. As tech leaders, we are not just building products or companies; we are shaping society’s fabric. As my 16-year-old son shared a quote from Spider-Man: "With great power comes great responsibility." In this new world, leadership involves charting new courses, embracing uncertainty, and inspiring others. So, what does it take to lead in today’s world? To lead now, we need to consider: - Leading overdue change - Guiding undefined change - Stepping up when change is needed We're at a pivotal moment, similar to the late 90s when the World Wide Web emerged. AI is at a similar crossroads, promising more innovation in the next decade than in the last 50 years. You have three choices: 1. Stay behind AI and fear it. 2. Get beside AI and learn it. 3. Get ahead of AI and lead it. I recently shared the stage with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, discussing the Purpose Economy. Emerging alongside AI, it’s expected to be the fastest-growing economy in the next decade. It’s still being designed, but it's promising. The Purpose Economy seeks leaders ready to drive change with purpose, merging technology with 'Tech for Good' to make meaningful shifts: - Within businesses and communities - Across industries - Throughout society and the world I’ve found that it takes 3% of leaders to start change, followed by 15% who influence the market, driving it into the 33% mainstream to fully create societal shift. In the 20th Century, such leaders were “Gurus.” In the 21st Century, leadership will involve connecting with your ‘Inner Guru,’ moving from a self-centred approach to a collaborative ‘We,’ and evolving from individual brands to collective movements. With this in mind, here are some questions to consider: How is technology shaping leadership? How can innovation transform industries? How will leadership evolve with Generation Z? I invite you to explore these questions through a purposeful lens and share how to implement ideas collaboratively around a shared purpose. You have the power to create a new paradigm and unlock the potential in others to co-create a better world together. If you would like to join our One Earth Purpose-led drop-in sessions with our Alumni and new Citizens, comment 'On Purpose' and we will send you the link for the next session this week! #GrowthOnPurpose #Purpose #Impact #PurposeEconomy #EducationForChange #LeadersOfTomorrow #ResponsibleBusiness
