The LCIA’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Steering Group are excited to share progress on their ongoing initiative. Since our formal launch, significant strides have been made in advancing the three core pillars of the LCIA’s EDI initiative: 🔹 Widening Event Participation: Through our event mentorship programme at the YIAG Tylney Symposium, 20 young arbitration professionals have been paired with experienced mentors to enhance engagement and broaden participation this year. Following this success, we have begun collaborating with law firms and chambers to scale this work. 🔹 Promoting Best Practices: A holistic Best Practice Tool is under development since July 2024, designed to encourage EDI considerations broadly in arbitration proceedings. We look forward to sharing this resource with the arbitration community once we have validated the recommendations with the right breadth of input. 🔹 Arbitrator Education & Training: Working to support behaviour change management around inclusion and facilitate best practices implementation, we have begun to explore how best to leverage events, media, and training. By end of year key our Steering Group will participate in and feedback on training design. Stay tuned for further updates as we continue to lead initiatives that foster a more inclusive and diverse future for arbitration. The progress on this initiative wouldn’t be possible without the leadership of our EDI Champions Ben Sanderson FCIArb, Claire Morel de Westgaver, Kate Corby, Ruth Byrne KC, Sarah Vasani FCIArb, Shreya Ramesh and Thomas Karalis. #LCIA #LCIAEvents #EDI #Arbitration #EDIInitiative #Equality #Diversity #Inclusion

Thank you to all who joined LCIA Director General Professor Dr Jacomijn van Haersolte-van Hof in discussion with Johanna Wirth, Dr. Daniel Engel and Professor Dr Giesela Rühl in Berlin this week. Covering topics surrounding Germany’s legislative activities on arbitration and civil procedure, with guests from various regions around the world offering their thoughts and unique perspectives, Hengeler Mueller Arbitration Talks marked a successful start to Berlin Dispute Resolution Days. #HengelerMueller #HMArbitrationTalks #BerlinDisputeResolutionDays #InternationalArbitration
'Germany's modernization laws on arbitration and civil procedure - ready for the future or still lagging behind?' As a prelude to the Berlin Dispute Resolution Days, we hosted the Hengeler Mueller Arbitration Talks in our Berlin office at the beginning of this week and were happy to welcome over 60 guests from all over the world. In a discussion opened by Johanna Wirth and moderated by Dr. Daniel Engel (both partners in our Dispute Resolution practice), Prof. Dr. Giesela Rühl and Prof. Dr. Jacomijn van Haersolte-van Hof tackled recent German legislative activities on arbitration and civil procedure, such as the new 'Act to Strengthen Germany as a Centre of Justice [...]'. It was great to hear so many international perspectives and to have such a lively audience participation. The event was rounded off with further discussions over brunch. Thanks to everyone for attending and we are looking forward to welcoming you again soon! #HengelerMueller #HMArbitrationTalks #BerlinDisputeResolutionDays #DIS #InternationalArbitration #CommercialDisputesinGermany
