About us
London is moving east and Newham is at the centre of that change. Just three miles east from the City and well connected to major transport links, we are the future of the capital in terms of regeneration and opportunities. We are home to one of the UK’s youngest and most ethnically diverse populations. We offer unique opportunities for both professionals and residents. We are a great place to do business, a great place to visit, and a great place where people choose to live, work and stay.

London Borough of Newham reposted this
This London Climate Action Week we are celebrating our partnership with the forward-thinking London Borough of Newham. So far together, we have planted 14,460 native trees creating 7 SUGi Pocket Forests in local schools and parks, with 3,309 students, teachers and residents transforming a highly urbanized environment with a biodiverse network of native species havens. The continuing partnership will see 5,700 more trees planted before the end of 2024 The benefits of the pocket forests are multi layered here are just some: — Their biodiversity can help improve immunity via positive microbial interactions. — Filter airborne pollutants through their dense canopies. — They can improve the physical and mental wellbeing of communities. — Help cool city temperatures. — Can help mitigate flooding by absorbing stormwater. — Capture CO₂, and emit oxygen. — Create a haven for bees and pollinators. Thanks to a grant from the Council, Nature will begin to bloom across the community and in the imaginations of the schoolchildren, who will act as citizen scientists and stewards as they grow and flourish together. Stay tuned for more updates on this Nature-Based Solution in action.
