  • Over the past two days, our fostering service has been delivering a innovative programme of learning and development across teams working with vulnerable children - including social workers, foster carers and residential children's home workers. We've introduced a trauma-informed therapeutic parenting approach that will empower teams to create a safe and understanding space for children who have experienced trauma in their young lives, and support them to begin healing. We're committed to investing in continued training and development for our valued foster carers - who make such a difference to the lives of children and young people. 👉 Find out why so many foster carers are transferring to Hillingdon: https://buff.ly/4aee8wJ

“I will never understand why those heartless individuals took away my brother’s innocent life - but the council’s bursary is a positive way to honour his name.” To continue Tashan Daniel’s legacy and to help young people reach their goals – the council's bursary supports aspirational individuals to achieve their dreams and inspire others. Applications are now open for young people living in Hillingdon, aged 21 and under, to apply for support to fulfil their ambitions in sport, theatre, arts and education. The deadline is Sunday 7 July. Watch Tashan's sister Oceanna on why people should apply for the award. More information👉https://lnkd.in/ezcsypxa

Construction of our new Platinum Jubilee Leisure Centre in West Drayton has been continuing at pace, despite the original contractor filing for administration in 2023. The council is now managing the construction itself and Cllr Ian Edwards, Leader of Hillingdon Council, Cllr Jonathan Bianco, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Property, Highways and Transport, and Cllr Martin Goddard, Cabinet Member for Finance, recently visited the site to see the exciting progress made in the last year. The new centre will provide a range of high-quality facilities, including a 25-metre swimming pool, training pool, splash-zone, gym and health suite, soft play, youth and community hub, café, terrace and rooftop 3G five-a-side football pitch.
