Whilst MEPC 82 wasn't a final decision making platform, its looking like good progress was made towards a concensus around a universal GHG emission levy. So what a serindipitus opportunity to check in on Ammonia's progress as a developing maritime fuel this week here in Singapore. Join us at the main conference at #SIBCON2024 where I'm delighted to sit down with some great industry minds to explore how we are progressing along this particular fuel pathway. Thanks for joining me in this conversation Tessa Major, Felicia Low, Andrew Hoare, TAKAHIRO ROKURODA Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) Lloyd's Register

Last week at Marine Money Week 2024 in Singapore, James Forsdyke, Managing Director, LR Maritime Decarbonisation Hub, spoke at a panel session on "Shipping and the Road towards Decarbonisation", about the need to develop a compelling business case for the production of zero carbon fuels to open up access to capital to unlock supply-side development, currently deemed as the critical path for the scale-up of zero emissions shipping. Jack Spyros Pringle, LR’s Business Advisory Lead Consultant, also presented on "To 2030 and beyond - pathways to de-risk the energy transition", where he gave an overview of possible commercially viable pathways for transitions to alternative fuels in shipping, taking into account the latest regulatory incentives, such as US subsidy schemes to lower the price of blue ammonia. LR has launched its new Digital Maturity Framework and Index, a free web-based tool designed to help companies assess and benchmark their digital maturity. It was presented at the Smart Maritime Network SMAGIC event in Copenhagen this week, alongside 'The Benchmark' report, which outlines LR’s detailed digital maturity model for organisations to measure their digital transformation progress, from foundational levels to advanced data-driven decision-making. The tool is the first of its kind in the maritime industry and allows shipping companies to self-assess their digital readiness, compare themselves against competitors, and identify potential areas for investment in technology and skills.
