The Baby Bank Alliance is launching today!! Our new data reveals that almost 200,000 babies and children have been supported by 148 baby banks in 2023, alone. Since 2021 there has been a 54.5% increase in demand for baby banks. Right across the UK, baby banks are providing critical support for families who can't afford the essentials for their babies and young children - from babygrows to buggies - but it doesn't need to be this way in the 6th richest country in the world. That's why we've come together as an Alliance to raise awareness of our work and the demand from families. This work is a big collective effort - it's a collaboration between Little Village, Baby Bank Network Bristol, Save the Children UK and Purposeful Ventures. And SO many amazing people have contributed to getting us to this point, including Dan Paskins, Becky Gilbert, Eva Fernandes FRSA, Aisha Washington, Michael Clark, Liora Wulf (She/Her), Rosanna James, Marianne Harris-Bridge, Melanie Robinson, Tom O'Beirne, Hannah Pentith, Rhian Lubin, Simon Henry, Harriet Foxwell-Corden, Emilie de Bruijn, Danielle Flecher-Horn, Keir Barraclough, Sarah Hesz, Sarah McMullen Peter Grigg Angela McConville Sophia Parker to name a few.... It would be lovely if baby banks could exist as parent sharing networks, passing on and reusing baby items in communities but while there are 4.3 million children living in poverty, we won't stop trying to support as many families as possible who need our help, right now. Today, we're delighted to announce the official public launch of the Baby Bank Alliance 🎉 The alliance's first national survey lays bare the child poverty crisis in the UK. The data reveals a 54.4% increase in referrals to baby banks since 2021. Baby banks have risen to the challenge, with approximately half of them supporting 199,180 children in 2023 alone. On a mission to raise awareness of baby banks and their crucial work in supporting families with the essential things they need for their children, the Baby Bank Alliance is a united initiative founded by Little Village together with Save the Children UK, Purposeful Ventures and the Baby Bank Network Bristol. It was brilliant to see so many awesome women who make a difference at The Felix Project London Multibank launch yesterday (alongside a few others like the Mayor of London and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown!!). Little Village is delighted to be a Felix Multibank partner, and we've already benefited from essential items such as toiletries that we can pass on to families referred to us. Thank you Charlotte Hill OBE for the Little Village shout out (I LOVE your on brand nails!), and wonderful as always to see Rosanne Gray and Emma Revie and my Baby Bank Alliance colleague Hannah Pentith.

The demand for our help continues to outstrip our capacity to respond week on week so we're delighted to be partnering with The Felix Project and The Trussell Trust in launching London's first 'multibank' today which will help around 40,000 Londoners get the essential items they need for their families. The multibank initiative is supported by Amazon, former Prime Minister Gordon Brown and the Greater London Authority (GLA) to provide essentials including toiletries, baby products, cleaning goods and bedding to families in need.
