I really enjoyed being part of a panel today on the topic "Transition into Tech" for GTA Black Women In Tech. I had the pleasure of hearing the "origin stories" and experiences shared by the other guest speakers; Kenya Fairley of Bumble, Hannah Spence founder of Clockflower solutions and Marsha V. of Avanade. Each person's journey was unique - I was in sales, and then in market research before I moved into tech. I then married my skills in tech and entrepreneurship together to start Purposeful Group. Kenya worked for the US government, Hannah was a teacher... Having a "perfect" career trajectory is not essential. Focusing on what you lack, rather than what you have creates additional stress, when this energy could be better spent on upskilling, and exploring alternative ways to move forward. Leveraging existing skills and experience to demonstrate how you can add value in a new role, or when changing industries can be very powerful! #digitalskills #careerprogress #transitionintotech #techcareers #digitalcareers #employability #careersintech https://lnkd.in/eZDiqTqD
