❤️ As we marked World Heart Day on the 29th September the World Heart Federation reminded us that Cardiovascular disease remains the World’s biggest killer. Globally, 41% of women and 51% of men with hypertension are not diagnosed, and only 21% of people with hypertension have it under control (WHO) – highlighting the need for novel approaches to remove the friction of blood pressure (BP) checking. This study aims to investigate the accuracy of a contactless, calibration-free BP app – Lifelight - versus a blood pressure cuff. 🔬📢⭐ We are delighted to announce that Lifelight has secured further Innovate UK funding as part of the Biomedical Catalyst for improved infant patient outcomes. Globally, 5 million neonates (0-28 days old) die every year, 98% occurring in developing countries. Infection, prematurity, and birth asphyxia are the main causes. One in three adults worldwide are affected by hypertension, yet almost half are unaware of their condition (WHO). In this study, we address the need for low-cost, rapid, and reliable methods for blood pressure estimation in order to facilitate timely diagnosis and treatment of hypertension.
