    🔋⚡ In a UK supermarket first, Lidl customers charging their electric vehicles will soon be able to pay via our rewards app, Lidl Plus. 📱 🚗   This is the latest development for our hugely popular rewards scheme and follows an investment of over £15 million into our electric vehicle charging infrastructure since 2017. We now have over 370 charging points across our stores, including 300 rapid chargers. The transition will start this summer and be rolled out nationwide by the end of the year.   Commenting on the move, our Chief Development Officer, Richard Taylor, said: “Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at Lidl. Since we opened our first store 30 years ago, Lidl has contributed to a shift in the way that people shop for their groceries, and this is the latest example of how we’re doing just that, so that we can further enhance our customers’ shopping experience.”

    What a busy month June was for our Property teams. 🧱   In addition to calling on contractors nationwide to join us at a series of events throughout July, our acquisitions teams hosted successful events at Lidl House (our HQ), Leeds, Bristol, Birmingham, and Edinburgh. We welcomed over 250 agents, developers, residential providers and Councils, all of whom play an instrumental role in helping us achieve our ambition to open hundreds of new stores. 🛒   A big thank you to those who came along! For anyone that would like to see where we’re looking for sites, you can see the full list in our site requirements brochure here: https://lnkd.in/eFpmtq5k #Lidlrealestate #Property

    Pride hasn’t just been celebrated internally at Lidl, we had a great time joining the festivities with our amazing communities! Here are the brilliant activations we’ve been a part of…🌈💛   We were lucky enough to go to Birmingham Pride for the second year in a row and our first ever London Pride. Over 100 of our amazing colleagues joined the parades across both cities, enjoying rooftop views of supporters from the buses or walked alongside our friends at the NSPCC! 🚍🎉   We also partnered up with Mighty Hoopla festival in London’s Brockwell Park, a festival dedicated to inclusivity. We brought along our 360 camera, Lidl Plus glitter zone, handed out fresh fruit skewers and served slushies, with all profits going to the NSPCC. 💚   What an amazing month it’s been! #LondonPride #BirminghamPride #Celebrations

    It has been a busy Pride month at Lidl GB, so we wanted to shine a light on some of the activities that have taken place! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️   We’ve been celebrating our incredible LGBTQ colleagues, sharing their stories, lived experiences, and celebrating everyone's journey. One of the stories that was shared came from Andy Cole, one of our brilliant Regional Directors and how he works to foster a truly inclusive workspace where colleagues can express themselves freely and feel heard.   We didn't stop there! Wonderful Pride celebrations were held in all of our regions, including at Lidl House where colleagues received an inspiring talk by the 'Sinnerman' Paul Sinha from ITV's 'The Chase'! Paul spoke on his experience of coming out and the importance of LGBTQ representation.🗣️   Plus, we shared a number of tools, encouraging colleagues to learn more about the LGBTQ community and how we can support. Building on from Lidl GB’s existing pledge - to halve the environmental impact of UK shopping baskets by 2030, as part of WWF-UK’s Retailers’ Commitment for Nature, the new international partnership will involve 31 countries. The global ecological and social challenges of our time can only be managed if we work together. That is why it is time to join forces. 💪 As one of Europe's largest food retailers and one of the world's most experienced conservation organisations, the long-term cooperation with WWF will focus on working along Lidl’s value chain, thereby helping to address the global environmental challenges of our time, ensuring that more households have access to more sustainable choices. 💚 Christoph Pohl, Chief Purchasing Officer at Lidl International, explains the reasons for the partnership: “In our role as one of the largest food retailers, we are aware of our responsibility and our influence. We take responsibility with the aim of doing business within planetary boundaries. For Lidl, sustainable management is not only a question of attitude, but also the basis for the future viability of our business model. With the support and expertise of WWF, we will now take our commitment to sustainability to the next level. We can only overcome major global challenges such as climate change and nature loss by working together. That's why we believe in strong partnerships to work together to provide more sustainable choices.” 🤝 This long-term partnership is another cornerstone of our commitment to driving sustainability as part of our international CSR strategy. Together, we are committed to responsible sourcing raw materials, combating food waste and protecting the climate and biodiversity.     This week we celebrate both Reservist Day and Armed Forces Day. We believe in supporting veterans and reservists and in 2024 several initiatives were introduced to show our appreciation with many more to come: 👉 Our monumental signing of the Armed Forces Covenant and partnership with the CTP has led to us receiving more job applications and hires from ex-military personnel. 👉 We have been accredited with the Bronze Defence Employer Recognition Award and are setting our sights on achieving the Silver Award by the end of the year. 👉 We’ve added military events to our wellbeing calendar to recognise and celebrate them.     We're delighted to be included in @FairtradeFoundation's 30th Anniversary Report! 🎉 For 6 years running, we’ve sold more own-brand Fairtrade cocoa than any other retailer in the UK. This has generated £6.6 million in Fairtrade Premium for Fairtrade cocoa farmers, supporting their livelihoods and funding vital community projects like skills training, healthcare and education! 🏫 Have you spotted our ‘Way To Go!’ chocolate bars in store? 🍫 These are made with Fairtrade cocoa beans that are 100% traceable.     #GreatBigGreenWeek is a celebration of community action to protect nature and tackle climate change! As part of our now 7-year partnership with Neighbourly, we’re proud to be supporting local charities making these aims central to their mission. 🌎🌳 Since 2017, to help tackle food poverty and the carbon emissions caused by food waste, we’ve donated over 36 million meals to local charities. 🍎 🥕 That includes good causes like South Liverpool Zero Waste Community, Tummies Not Trash and Conservation of Our Coastal Wildlife and many more which put sustainability at the heart of what they do! 💚 In our stores, look out for customer donation points and our ‘Good to Give’ shelf labelling which highlights the items most needed by good causes.
