A diagnosis of ADHD is not based on a single characteristic or behaviour, but rather a pattern of traits of inattention or hyperactivity-impulsivity that persists over time and across different settings. But it's not always just one or the other, quite a lot of people have combined ADHD (both inattentive and hyperactive/impulsive). Today's post is focusing on some of the challenges that can be associated with ADHD. Watch this space for info on ADHD strengths coming soon. Inattentive type These traits affect a person's ability to focus, organise, and follow through on tasks. Common inattentive traits include: 👉Difficulty sustaining attention: Trouble staying focused on tasks or activities, especially if they require sustained mental effort. 👉Disorganisation: Difficulty managing tasks, frequently losing items like keys or school supplies, and struggling with time management. 👉Easily distracted: Frequent daydreaming or having thoughts wander, which can cause tasks to remain unfinished. 👉Forgetfulness: Forgetting daily tasks, appointments, or deadlines, even when they are important. 👉Avoidance of tasks requiring focus: Reluctance to engage in activities that demand prolonged mental effort (e.g., schoolwork or paperwork) Hyperactive-Impulsive type These traits are more outwardly visible and involve excess energy and impulsive behaviour. Common symptoms include: 👉Restlessness: Fidgeting, squirming in seats, or an inability to sit still, even in situations where calmness is expected. 👉Excessive talking: Talking nonstop or interrupting others frequently. 👉Impulsiveness: Acting without thinking, such as blurting out answers or making decisions without considering consequences. 👉Difficulty waiting turns: Struggling with patience in structured environments, like waiting in line or for one’s turn in conversation. 👉Constant movement: Running or climbing in inappropriate situations, or feeling a strong urge to be physically active To learn more about ADHD, visit our resource page: 👉 lexxic.com/resources/adhd #ADHD #ADHDAwareness #NeurodiversityAwareness #Neurodiversity

October marks an important month for Lexxic. ADHD Awareness Month 🧡 The theme of this year's ADHD Awareness Month is 'Awareness is Key' which aims to educate the public by sharing accurate, science-based information. ADHD is one of the more common neurodifferences that we see with our partners and their employees. These individuals may face many strengths and challenges throughout their career. At Lexxic, we are proud to be able to support them and help them to use and embrace their unique traits to allow them to be their best selves within a supportive environment! We will be spreading awareness about ADHD, particularly within the workplace, throughout the month and we invite you to engage with us by sharing your stories in the comments. #ADHDAwareness #ADHD #Neurodiversity #Neurodifference #AwarenessCampaign

At Lexxic, we believe in the power of stories—stories that shape our history, our identities, and our future. 📖 This year's Black History Month theme, "Reclaiming Narratives," resonates deeply as we work to empower diverse voices in the workplace. Throughout history, many Black individuals with neurodifferences like autism, ADHD, and dyslexia have faced double layers of marginalisation—both for their race and their cognitive differences. Their stories often go untold. This month, we honour all of these individuals who defied odds and reshaped history and those who will continue to do so. By embracing their full unique identities, we not only correct the past, but pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable future. Let’s continue to amplify diverse voices and ensure that every narrative is heard, valued, and celebrated 🎉 #BlackHistoryMonth #ReclaimingNarratives #Neurodiversity #Inclusion #Equity #Empowerment #Lexxic

Richard Branson has collaborated with Made By Dyslexia to launch ✨DyslexicU: The world's first 'University of Dyslexic Thinking'✨ Read the full article here👇 https://lnkd.in/eAFE9PBU "While ‘U’ might technically’ stand for ‘University’, I quite like the irony that it resembles the ‘U’ that myself and many dyslexics sometimes see scribbled on our report cards, because traditional education systems are not made for minds like ours." #DyslexicU #Dyslexia #Neurodiversity
