We're celebrating the 15th birthday of St David’s Cardiff 🎈   First opening in October 2009, our St David’s development transformed Cardiff into one of the UK’s top shopping destinations with nearly one million square foot of premium retail space.   Today, it’s home to more than 180 independent shops and restaurants—from attracting international brands to championing Welsh independents. And with a £17m investment plan submitted in August to transform unused space into a new city square, we’re committed to growth that supports more people to live, work, and spend time in the vibrant city centre.   This year’s #Landsec80 campaign is showcasing the 80-year impact of our places across the UK. The regeneration of St David’s is one of these historic landmarks, and exemplifies how we’re creating sustainable, long-term value for people, communities, and businesses. For the ninth consecutive year, we’ve achieved a five-star GRESB rating, and remain regional sector leader for our standing investments. This real estate-specific benchmark means that we’re recognised internationally as a leader in creating sustainable places, and can offer a #sustainable best-in-class platform for investments across our portfolio. Once again, we’ve scored 99 for our developments – much above the GRESB average of 86 – and have ranked first in our peer group for standing investments. Our Build Well, Live Well, Act Well framework demonstrates our commitment to industry-leading ESG performance, and ensures that our places are beneficial to our planet, customers, and communities 💚 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/dXfDCmu

We welcome the latest Landsec Futures interns this week, who’ve marked the start of our fourth cohort 👏 Our interns are provided with six months of training and paid employment at one of our places. And for the very first time, we’ve expanded to #Leeds and #Manchester through our charity partners Resurgo and Regeneration Brainery. Providing mentorship and learning for young people from underrepresented backgrounds is vital part of our business’ future. Reflecting the communities we’re a part of and increasing diversity is essential to the places we want to create. Congratulations to Manuella Bushidi, Jenson Ward, and Ella Pitts; we're excited to be working side by side. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eFP-VYC8 #RealEstate #Internships #LandsecFutures

75% of disabled people and their families have reported walking away from an organisation because of poor #accessibility or customer service.   As an industry, we have a responsibility to address these inequalities, and to position inclusivity at the front and centre of all planning and design discussions. That's why we recently published our Inclusive Design Principles, which support us and everyone we work with in delivering best-in-class accessible, useable, and welcoming spaces: 👉 https://lnkd.in/egJmQPrX   We welcome today's Inclusive Spaces and Places inclusive design report from The Crown Estate and Grosvenor, and look forward to working with our peers across the industry to create spaces that are truly for all.

A lack of inclusive design means millions are prevented from fully engaging not only with public and commercial spaces but with society and our economy. To accelerate change and address common knowledge, technical and organisational barriers to designing more welcoming places, we have worked with The Crown Estate to analyse the value case for inclusive places and create free tools to help property companies take action. As part of the change, we are committed to five inclusive design actions including: ·     Listening to and involving those with lived experience. ·     Measuring and understanding the level of accessibility of our buildings and spaces to inform key interventions. ·     Communicating better information on the accessibility of our buildings. ·     Going beyond building regulations to create a higher inclusive design standard. ·     Collaborating to ensure inclusive design is considered for new developments and existing buildings. Thanks to all those with lived experience, industry partners and members of the new working group who gave their time and insight in to this report. We are delighted that so many in the industry have joined our call to action and many have joined us in making these commitments. Today, we’ve submitted a planning application for the third phase of our £45m investment into the UK’s leading waterfront retail destination, Gunwharf Quays 🌊 We’re investing to reinvigorate the high footfall area of Central Square—which includes transforming a currently underused space into a new family-friendly dining hub. Our proposals include the installation of a large digital screen in the heart of Central Square, creating new advertising opportunities for brands, and a place to showcase sporting and local events as a new attraction for guests. We’re committed to enhancing Gunwharf Quays so it remains a high-quality place that generates value for our brand partners, our communities, and our investors. If approved, the Central Square developments are planned to commence in spring 2025, which follows on from renovation work to Marlborough Square, which has already been approved for early 2025. Timber Square is the next #netzero workplace we’re bringing to #London's Bankside.   The mixed-use development showcases innovative methods of construction to meet future sustainability requirements, while still maintaining its prominent 1950s heritage. With its unique sustainable design and prime location in the bustling and culturally-rich Bankside, this is set to be a one-of-a-kind place to work. 🌟 Exciting progress at Timber Square! We’re thrilled to share these latest progress shots of Timber Square, a new mixed-use development designed by Bennetts Associates for Landsec located in iconic Bankside, London. This innovative project is rapidly transforming into a dynamic hub for office spaces, retail, leisure and a vibrant public realm. In collaboration with the design team, we’ve carefully extended a former printworks, known as the Print Building. Alongside it stands the striking new Ink Building on Lavington Street. Originally built in the 1950s, 80% of the existing structure of the Print Building has been retained and refurbished to keep the industrial character of the original frame. Both buildings utilise a hybrid of steel and Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) — making Timber Square the UK’s largest commercial development using CLT by volume, with the tallest hybrid frame. The all electric buildings will be heated and cooled by air source heat pumps and powered by 100% renewable energy. For more information about Timber Square visit: https://lnkd.in/eptGjGNv #TimberSquare #Architecture #CLT #MixedUseDevelopment #LondonRealEstate #UrbanInnovation
