  • 🤝 Just announced – Lithuania acquires more NASAMS air defence We have signed a contract with the Ministry of National Defence in the Republic of Lithuania for the delivery of more NASAMS air defence systems. The EUR 193 million contract will provide Lithuania with the latest technology and increased air defence capabilities. As part of the contract, Lithuania will also upgrade parts of the NASAMS equipment the country acquired in 2017. The acquisition follows the orders placed in December 2023 to increase the number of NASAMS fire units providing Lithuania with the most modern and advanced air defence system. “KONGSBERG sees increased demand from existing NASAMS users to upgrade and expand their NASAMS assets. The NASAMS system is an important defence capacity given the geopolitical situation in the world. The contract with Lithuania also strengthens the country's partnership with NATO,” said Eirik Lie, President of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace. Previously, Lithuania’s Ministry of Defence has purchased NASAMS missile launchers for donation to Ukraine, where the system has contributed to the protection of people and critical infrastructure. 🔗 Read the press release here: https://brnw.ch/21wNrBV #NASAMS #AirDefenceSystems #ProtectingPeopleandPlanet

  • Strengthening our production capabilities for advanced defence solutions 🌏 Over the past few years, we have focused on transforming our production centre in Kongsberg, Norway, into a key driver for advanced defence solutions. Recently, we celebrated the opening of our newly expanded facilities, which have significantly enhanced both the size and efficiency of the industrial park, Campus Arsenalet. The expansion project, initiated in 2021, has been carried out in three phases, beginning in the autumn of 2022: the Logistics Hub, the Nexus Missile Factory, and the Aerostructures Expansion. “The next step will be the relocation of RWS production to PROTECTOR in 2025, marking the completion of the co-location," says Terje Bråthen, Executive Vice President of Aerostructures & MRO at Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace #DefenceSolutions #Expansion #DefenceIndustry

  • During exercise #REPMUS24, Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, in collaboration with GEOMETOC Center of Exellence, developed a data dissemination tool for Rapid Environment Assessment (REA) products, completing the REA doctrine of tasking, collecting, processing, and disseminating. The tool increased the number of products downloaded by the exercise participants by one order of magnitude. In addition, by leveraging Collaborative Autonomy Tasking Layer (CATL), every Commander Task Unit and Commander Task Element received notifications when new REA products were available, thus accelerating the information dissemination across all warfare cells. Working alongside NATO STO-CMRE - Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation, we have validated the systems engineering approach from model to message generation for the upcoming STANAG 4817. Tracks from the Kongsberg SeaTex drone detection radar were successfully translated and distributed to all task units. In partnership with Kongsberg Geospatial, we will continue supporting REA and GEOMETOC by providing the data dissemination tool for the next year, enabling participants to access and explore all REA data collected during exercise REPMUS24. In addition, we will offer open-source tools to support the model-based systems engineering approach in the development of STANAG 4817. #WeAreNATO #MaritimeUnmannedSystems #StrongerTogether #InnovationNATO Marinha Portuguesa - Página Oficial

Norway's first student satellite has completed its final orbit 🌍🛰️ SelfieSat is Orbit NTNU's very first project – a groundbreaking satellite developed, built, and operated entirely by the students themselves. The goal? To learn as much as possible about satellites and space technology. Over the course of two years, SelfieSat delivered 118 complete space selfies. In September this year, Orbit received the final signal as SelfieSat completed its last orbit around the Earth. “The satellite has been an extensive and challenging project that has brought space a little closer to Earth. It has taught us to develop creative solutions, never give up despite the circumstances, and treat every challenge as a learning opportunity,” says Victoria, Chief Marketing Officer at Orbit. Since the establishment of Orbit in 2018, Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has been a proud sponsor, offering both financial backing and technical expertise. Alongside KSAT – Kongsberg Satellite Services, we have supported and encouraged Orbit as they set ambitious goals and, more importantly, their journey towards achieving them. 🔗 With SelfieSat completed, Orbit is gearing up for exciting new projects – learn more: https://brnw.ch/21wN4Pn #OrbitNTNU #SelfieSat #Satellite
