This morning we kicked off Black History Month celebrations with a colleague panel discussion in our Paddington office. Black History Month is an important moment for us all to take a step back from our day to day and listen to each other and learn.    Our theme for this year is ‘Our history, told by us.’   Earlier, colleagues heard from Simon Mooney, Category Range Planner at Kingfisher, and his mum Madge. They talked through their family history, including Madge emigrating to the UK from Jamaica in 1964 to train as a nurse in the NHS.   This discussion was a really fantastic way for us to celebrate our colleagues and their families and a fantastic start to our Black History Month celebrations. 🛠️ Today B&Q has launched its new Refurbed by B&Q range. Refurbed by B&Q is part of its commitment to help customers make easier and more convenient choices, whilst reducing waste and environmental impact. Refurbished items will be available to up to 20% cheaper than new versions and are safely examined, checked, and cleaned before being sold. Alongside this, customers can also use B&Q’s tool hire service which gives access to over 100 products to hire in as little as 24 hours after ordering. 🌍 Both of these services work to minimise waste whilst giving customers a bigger choice in purchasing second hand tools or renting through the tool hire service.

Following the devastating floods in Poland and Romania this week, we are making a donation to the Polish Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity in Romania to support vital relief work on the ground. Our colleagues are working to support local clean-up efforts wherever they can. From volunteering and offering our carparks to emergency services, to providing recovery packs including cleaning products, pumps, buckets and spades. Below are the packs being prepared for transportation at our distribution centre in Stryków, Poland. Sending best wishes to our colleagues, their friends and family, in Poland and Romania ❤️
