It’s awards season and we’re celebrating our people’s #TrussellTrust fundraising efforts. 🌟 Last month, we proudly celebrated our brilliant people at our annual Kier Foundation Awards. The awards took place in the former IMAX at Millenium Point in Birmingham, where we celebrated the achievements of everyone who participated in Moving Through May, raising funds for our corporate charity partner, The Trussell Trust, the Kier Foundation, and various local charities. Last week we were delighted to welcome 26 summer placement students to join us at Kier. Over their 8 week placements they will work on a range of exciting projects across the business, gaining hands-on experience with projects, visiting sites and undertaking a health and safety qualification. We’ve been so pleased to welcome them all and offer an opportunity to gain valuable insights into the industry and make meaningful contributions to our team. We look forward to seeing their achievements with us this summer!

How important is professional development to you? At Kier, it’s hugely important. Last week, we held our first ever professional development conference where around 100 colleagues met in person to connect, learn and celebrate professional development at Kier.  We congratulated those who had gained charterships in the last year and gave thanks to the brilliant mentors who have supported them. Throughout June we’ve been marking Pride Month across Kier to celebrate that #LoveHasNoLimits. Led by our fantastic employee Pride network, we have held events at Kier offices to recognise and celebrate the LGBTQIA community and their contributions to society, as well as sharing tips and advice to highlight the importance of being an ally. This video shows one of the highlights of the month, as 30 Kier colleagues and their families attended Birmingham Pride, alongside Building Equality, an alliance of construction organisations working together to create an inclusive industry. 

In the fight against road runoff, working with RSK Group company, TerrAffix, we have demonstrated that a plant-based material used to create a biochar can successfully remove microplastics found in the runoff from our roads 🙌 The trials, carried out at Swansea University, found that there were no traces of microplastics in the road runoff, and the next stage for us is seeing how effective the solution is over time. We'll be putting it to the test on our National Highways A417 project. Recently, the biochar study won in the Research category at this year's Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) awards, as well as winning the overall award of the night 🏆 👉For more about this: kier.uk/4cBRWhv

🌟 Celebrating Moving through May 2024! 🌟 We're thrilled to announce the results of this year's #MTM24 challenge: 💰 We raised an impressive £81,301 through 2044 individual donations. 🌍 Together, we moved a staggering 176,233 km – that's equivalent to circling the Earth 4.4 times or driving coast-to-coast across the US nearly 40 times! 🚶♂️🚶♀️ 1,330 people took part making this event a resounding success. A huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated, and supported us. Your efforts are making a real difference!
