Raising Mental Health Awareness and Suicide prevention

About us

Kelly's Heroes is the new name for 'We Mind & Kelly Matters' which was formed in 2019 after the devastating loss of our beautiful daughter, sister and friend taken from us way too young following her struggles with Mental Health. Unless you are affected or know someone struggling with Mental Health it’s difficult to understand. There is often still a stigma associated with it, leaving many to suffer in silence, our aim is to raise awareness and help to prevent suicide. We all have a role to play in looking out for friends, family and colleagues who may be suffering. Pay special attention to some of the warning signs and it could be that just a few nice words or listening to them could be saving their life. The support we have received from the very early days has been amazing. Kelly touched so many lives and will be in our hearts forever, but this charity is her legacy, we can’t let people suffer on their own with this awful illness. All fundraising, donations are used for the charity and to support local mental health initiatives, such as MIND. We truly appreciate every donation that has been made and everyone helping to share and raise awareness with us.

Could not be prouder of how far my little brother has come in the last 2 years. It took for him to hit rock bottom to realise the changes he had to make in his life. Now 2 years sobre he’s living life to the fullest. Always had a massive love of music and the outdoors, his latest venture up Ben Nevis this weekend 💪🏻 He would not be here without Kelly's Heroes and is taking on the kilimanjaro challenge to raise vital funds for them to continue saving lives. Please help me to support him now in smashing his target🙏 https://lnkd.in/eic-eax9 #MentalHealth #KellysHeroes #Kilimanjaro2024

Two-thirds of people who die by suicide are not in touch with mental health services in the year before they die, but they are almost certainly in touch with a frontline service like their GP, other NHS services, education, or social services. This means that services like these can play a vital role in identifying people who are experiencing suicidal thoughts and helping them reach the right support. With the right training and support frontline public workers can be potential lifesavers, and more people can get the support they need at the right time. We're calling on the Government to roll out suicide prevention training to all frontline workers.

To all my contacts, I have a FAVOUR to ask if I may……… Please take the time to read….🙏🏻🙏🏻 Some of you may or may not know but in just over 3 weeks’ time, I will be embarking on an opportunity of a lifetime by climbing Kilimanjaro to help raise vital funds for Kelly's Heroes The Challenge! 💪🏻🧗 Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain above sea level in the world at 5895m (19,341 ft). This immense opportunity will be both physically and mentally challenging and will push me to my limits. I will be away from home for 10 days in total, the aim is to reach the summit at 5895m in 6 days, whilst also trying to acclimatise to the altitude, which is one of the biggest challenges. There are no hotels, no warm showers, and no home comforts. Each day will consist of making it from one base camp to the next, setting up our tents, and going full-out Bear Grylls style to make it to the summit and back down again. I cannot wait to see what I am made off!!! Why am I doing this! I am taking on this monumental challenge to help raise much-needed funds for the charity Kelly’s Heros!! Kellys Heros is the new name for the ‘We Mind & Kelly Matters’ charity which was formed in 2019 by founders John Hewitt, Rachael Hewitt and Amy Hewitt after the devastating loss of their daughter and sister Kelly following her struggles with mental health. Unless you are affected or know someone struggling with Mental Health its difficult to understand. There is still a stigma associated with it, leaving many to suffer in silence. The charity aims to raise awareness and help prevent suicide. The money raised with be used to deliver and develop more support services to those who are in need, but also to support family and friends of those who have lost a loved one to suicide. Staggeringly, we know that around 7000 people in the UK take their own life!!! That’s 135 people every week!!! This is heartbreaking to read and see; we need to do something about it! Kellys Heros are doing just that and with the support and help of the people. Kellys Hero’s can help grow and develop much-needed essential services to help and support people who are struggling!! Please see link to there website for those that are struggling https://lnkd.in/eYFHgyRx They offer a listening ear or live chat every day for those that feel they need someone to listen to them along with lots of other support services. The FAVOUR 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I need your help to raise some much needed funds please!! Please if anyone could donate it would be greatly appreciated. This charity is an amazing charity, and it means a great deal to me. The charity needs our help to support people in a crisis and family and friends who have lost loved ones by suicide. Wish me luck!!!🫶🏻 https://lnkd.in/eK7K7qE5

🌟 We’re incredibly proud to support Kelly's Heroes, a charity with a truly inspiring mission. Founded in memory of Kelly Hewitt, a remarkable young woman who sadly lost her battle with mental health, this charity is dedicated to providing crucial mental health support for young people. Kelly's Heroes works tirelessly to empower youth by offering education, advocacy, and support services, helping them navigate the challenges of mental health with the resources they need. The charity was established to honor Kelly's legacy by making sure that no young person feels alone in their struggles, and their impact has already been profound. On 15th September, a few of us from Dufeu IT will be taking part in 'The Amazing Northampton Run' to help raise awareness for this incredible cause. We're thrilled to sponsor the event and do our part in supporting the vital work that Kelly's Heroes is doing in our community. Every step we take is for a brighter, healthier future for young people—let's make a difference together! 🏃♂️💪 Learn more about their mission and the story behind Kelly's Heroes here: https://lnkd.in/e5BexuDU #NorthamptonRun #KellysHeroes #MentalHealthMatters #DufeuIT #RunForACause

Those of you who know me, will know I am training for an Ironman later this year and throughout my training so far I have taken part in both the 'Cambridge Half Marathon' and 'Bolton 70.3 Iron Man' in the lead-up to this. The 'Amazing Northampton Run', which takes place on 15th September 2024, takes a 13.1 mile loop around my neighbouring town - Northampton. I'm proud to announce that Dufeu IT and Dufeu Managed Print Solutions Ltd will be sponsoring the event and myself, Callum Baker and a few heroes from the Dufeu team will be taking part. This new challenge both supports my training for the Ironman and raises awareness for a cause close to my heart - Kelly's Heroes Kelly's Heroes was founded in 2019 after my good friend, John Hewitt, lost his beloved daughter, Kelly. Since then, Kelly's Heroes have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds, raised massive awareness, and created a support network for local communities around mental health and bereavement after suicide. Due to the tech industry's high-pressured nature, supporting IT employees with their mental health is vital. Here at Dufeu IT, we have found Kellys Heroes paramount in supporting our amazing team's wellbeing. If you are looking for a fun day out (you don't have to run 😊) and would like to support the event and Kellys Heroes then join thousands of others and come along on Sunday September 15th 2024, details are in the link below. https://lnkd.in/e6uNMy9d

Kelly’s Heroes Golf Day 2024 ⛳️ We’d just like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who attended our annual golf day at Wellingborough Golf Club on Friday 9th August. Thank you to everyone who donated raffle and auction prizes, as well as everyone who made generous donations. Thank you to this year’s Sponsors, Glazerite UK Group Ltd, Arolite, Chris George The Estate Agent, Mews Windows, Premier Windows, Dry Wall Contracts Ltd, Central Window Systems Ltd, Hevey Building Supplies Limited, Lonsdale Direct Solutions, T & W Civil Engineering, Peter Clarke Transport and Richard Sanders Ltd. In total, £10,449.25 was raised on the day, which is fantastic! We are extremely grateful to all those who contributed to this amount. 👏 As John mentioned on Friday, the charity is growing year on year, but unfortunately so is the demand for our services. This money will be used to continue to offer our free counselling service, Listening Ear Service and much more. Kelly’s Heroes relies solely on fundraising events and generous donations, so we are extremely grateful to everyone who continues to support us and our work. We hope everyone enjoyed this year’s event and we hope to see you all, and more, again next year! 💗 #GolfDay2024 #MentalHealth #MentalHealthAwareness
