Going forward it is vital housing is recognised as a key part of the national infrastructure not dissimilar to the NHS given health and housing are inextricably linked. We need government to look at the bigger picture and from a housebuilding perspective replace short-term Affordable Homes Programmes of five years with continuous, annual funding that is always available. This will prevent housebuilding from slowing two-thirds of the way through AHPs and enable larger-scale regeneration projects to be delivered. JV North is a consortium of housing associations and local authorities from across the North West that has built 10,000 homes, housed 30,000 people and invested £1 billion. Our members are: Bury Council, Cobalt Housing, Johnnie Johnson Housing, Muir, One Manchester, Peaks & Plains Housing Trust, Plus Dane Housing, South Liverpool Homes, Stockport Homes Group, Sovini, Torus, Weaver Vale Housing Trust and Wythenshawe Community Housing Group. We offer three membership options: Full, Associate and Procurement. The latter allows housebuilding organisations to access our £560 million Building Back Fairer framework and Dynamic Purchasing System. Our appetite to build continues to grow with work underway in the 2021-26 Affordable Homes Programme where in the region of 4,000 more homes will be developed. In addition to economies of scale when bidding for Homes England grant, we work together to share intelligence, market insight, best practice and risk management so more homes can be built quicker than ever.

Regardless of who is in power after tomorrow’s #GeneralElection it is vital #housing is given a seat at the top table with a clear long-term plan put in place and an end to the conveyor belt of housing ministers we have experienced the past 10 - 15 years.

Fantastic that social housing is being given the stronger voice it needs in order to make fundamental changes to address this crisis.
George Clarke says he wouldn't be where he is today without the social home he grew up in. The importance of home is the cornerstone of his career as one of TV's best-known architects, and prominent campaigner for more social housing. We know there's no ending the housing emergency without building the social homes we need. Whoever gets the keys to No 10 on 4 July must commit to making building social homes a key priority - so a new generation can be proud to say: 'We were #MadeInSocialHousing.’

The long-term plan approach is key; it must have substance with policy and financial commitment along with cross-party acknowledgment the housing crisis is too big to fix in one or two parliamentary terms.

Funding assurance is vital for housing association boards at a time when financial viability is under heavy scrutiny. This is why we are calling for funding certainty beyond the current 2021/26 Affordable Homes Programme end date. Hugely disturbing and depressing figures that need to be kept front of mind during general election campaigning when political parties discuss how they are going to create 'a brighter future' for the country. A key component of the #PlanForHousing has to be funding certainty from government so registered providers can develop long-term housebuilding business plans that are financially viable and board approved.
Shocking figures released by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities today. 🚨145,800 - Record number of children in temporary accomodation 🚨15,950 - Record number of households in bed and breakfast since 1998 🚨59,850 - Record number of Main Duty Acceptances since the 2017 Homelessness Reduction Act As a country, we should be ashamed that the #HousingCrisis has reached a point where more and more children and families are homeless, and growing up in inadequate temporary accommodation. We can solve this housing crisis but we desperately need a long-term #PlanForHousing
