About us

Just a Drop brings sustainable safe water, sanitation and hygiene projects to communities around the world. Safe water changes everything. It improves health, education, women’s rights, leads to secure food sources, economic growth and brighter futures. It completely transforms lives, especially those of women and children. Just a Drop’s project work is currently focused In Cambodia, India, Kenya, Nicaragua, Uganda and Zambia. We work with communities to implement solutions which best suit their needs, such as rainwater harvesting systems, wells, sand dams, water distribution systems, biosand filters, latrines, and sanitation and hygiene training. We’ve recently developed food security and micro-finance programmes, which further support community development and economic growth. We have reached over 1.8 million people in 32 countries since we began in 1998.

🏞️ Have you ever seen a sand dam from above? 🇰🇪 The Just a Drop team have recently been in Kenya with Boodles and were thrilled to get some aerial footage of one of our sand dam projects, generously supported by Boodles! 💧 Sand dams are a vital part of the work that Just a Drop does. These ingenious solutions provide a sustainable source of safe water for communities for many years to come, as well as making the land around them more fertile for crop growing, tree planting, and rearing livestock. 🎥 Honour Wainwright.

📍 Santa Isabel School 🌍 Nicaragua 🔍 At the remote Santa Isabel school, work is progressing quickly to provide the students and staff with latrines and handwashing stations! Prior to the project students had to walk 700 metres to access sanitation facilities, a task which they are now free from, as construction is finished. All that remains is to provide health and hygiene training for the students to ensure that the benefits are felt at San Isabel for the foreseeable future. 🙏 A huge thanks to our Founding Partner World Travel Market (WTM) London, who funded this project with donations from the 2023 edition of World Travel Market London.

It was such a pleasure to coordinate the very first Just a Drop and Partners learning series on Menstrual Health last week. We were glad to be joined by SOCADIDO Soroti, Water For Cambodia NGO, Africa Sand Dam Foundation, ECHO Zambia, Voluntary Action for Development, and El Porvenir: Water. Life. Future. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Voluntary Action for Development and El Porvenir: Water. Life. Future. colleagues for such excellent presentations! It was very interesting to see some common themes coming through: • The linkage between girls' education, school attendance and MH cannot be under-estimated. 77% of girls missing 2-3 days of school each month in Uganda due to menstruation is unacceptable and will have a profound impact on the ability of girls to realise their future potential. • The subject of Menstrual Health being a taboo in communities • The importance of engaging parents • The need for Menstrual Health to be a holistic part of WASH • The role of the Government (at different levels) being vital to change • Menstrual Health can be, and must be, gender-transformative • Sustainability is key - whether this be in terms of environmental sustainability or economic sustainability, it's an important theme in MH projects No doubt there are more themes, as well as emerging questions which we'll try to capture as the learning series progresses. We all left the call feeling energised and inspired for the next session in November! Thanks once again to Voluntary Action for Development and El Porvenir for sharing their MH journeys so far, and to Samantha Diouf for hosting and facilitating the session.

We are proud at PPHE Hotel Group to have been the headline sponsor at last night's 25th anniversary celebrations for Just a Drop, our charity partners dedicated to providing clean water to global communities in need. Through our Ecological Green Initiative Programme, active across all our UK and Netherlands hotels, we’ve raised over £194,159.37 in just two years. These funds have supported vital projects in Cambodia, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, and Nicaragua—from installing latrines and improving sanitation to harvesting rainwater and drilling boreholes. Each effort helps create healthier, more sustainable futures for communities worldwide. Thank you to our guests, team members and partners for making this possible and a special thanks to Park Plaza London Riverbank for hosting this fantastic event. Together, we’re not just reducing our environmental impact—we’re transforming lives. Here’s to many more years of creating positive change! #Sustainability #JustADrop #PPHEHotelGroup #WaterForAll #ESG #SocialImpact #CharityPartnership
