💭Is AI a barrier to the energy transition? Can we support its growth while still meeting climate targets? 📈"While AI is undeniably energy intensive, it also holds the key to optimizing renewable energy systems and accelerating the energy transition. There are several applications for AI within the renewables sector, such as being able to significantly improve renewable energy infrastructure by increasing efficiency and predictability". 👉Our VP Operational Excellence Mark Johnson talks to Renewable Energy Magazine on the role of AI in the renewables industry, read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eN638UTs

🌊 Welcome back to our series on floating wind turbines. Floating wind turbines hold great promise for harnessing the power of offshore winds. However, several obstacles must be addressed to unlock their full potential, requiring collaboration across industries, governments and local communities. Efforts are underway to develop tools, enhance port infrastructure, optimise floating foundations, and deepen knowledge in this exciting and evolving field of renewable energy. 👇Find out more below, or follow the link to learn more about our mission: https://www.jeranex.com/

Efficiently utilizing grid infrastructure is essential for enabling the renewables projects needed to deliver the energy transition. The estimated cost of grid constraints on consumers in the UK is set to hit £2m by 2030, a figure that could be avoided with the use of battery storage systems in the electrical grid. Our investment in Zenobē is just one of the ways we're supporting the energy transition. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eJjwjd_k
Today, we, as part of a coalition of battery storage operators in the UK with Harmony Energy, Field and Eelpower published an open letter for the attention of National Grid ESO, Ofgem and the Government calling for urgent action to address the consistent underusing or ‘skipping’ of batteries. According to our own research and verified by National Grid ESO, batteries are being skipped over 90% of the time during constraint periods for some sites. The result? Consumers are paying more, clean renewable energy is being wasted and fossil fuel generation is being used instead. We’re ready to work with together with the Government, the ESO and Ofgem to fix this long-standing issue and build confidence in the UK’s energy transition. What is Great British Energy (GBE)? It’s the brainchild of the Labour Party; a publicly owned energy company designed to accelerate investment into clean energy projects. It signals the continuation of the UK’s commitment to renewable energy leadership, a key factor in our decision to set up our headquarters in London. While we’re based in London, our mission is global, as outlined by our CEO Nathalie Oosterlinck in this blog: https://lnkd.in/ec-e4ZGa
