⚠️ Businesses globally have been disrupted by a recent IT outage caused by a faulty CrowdStrike update. But while the company says there's a workaround, experts have warned that the sheer scale of the issue means it could take 'days and weeks' to fully resolve. ♻️ Because this issue is forcing many machines into boot loops or the dreaded 'blue screen of death', it could be some time before the majority of systems are back online, according to Leon Smith at BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. 💬 "In some cases, the fix may be applied very quickly, but because it has to be applied to so many computers around the world, that may take longer than it sounds. 💬 “But if computers have reacted in a way that means they're getting into blue screens and endless loops it may be difficult to restore, and that could take days and weeks.” 📝 ITPro's Solomon Klappholz has more in our latest coverage of the disruption. #Windows | #CrowdStrike | #ITOutage | #BSOD

🚨 UPDATE 🚨 CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz has responded to the incident, taking to X to confirm that the company is "actively working with customers" to resolve the issue. Kurtz revealed the incident was caused by a "defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts". The chief executive emphasized that the source of this incident was not due to a security incident or cyber attack. 💬 "The issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed. We refer customers to the support portal for the latest updates and will continue to provide complete and continuous updates on our website," he said.
A slew of businesses worldwide have been taken offline in a major IT outage believed to be caused by issues relating to CrowdStrike’s Falcon Sensor platform. Organizations in Australia first reported issues, with users reporting early on Friday that they had been locked out of work devices. Delays to flights have been reported globally while broadcasters in the UK were knocked offline and forced to play archive footage as a result of the incident.
