Good luck to all the athletes participating in this year’s Olympics! 🏅 Tonight’s lighting of the cauldron marks the start of the games, with all eyes on Paris for the next few weeks. We’ve been reflecting on our own role in helping to deliver the greatest show on Earth in 2012 – constructing the Velodrome and providing £300 million event architecture. That’s not all. Over the years, we have delivered sporting venues like the Lee Valley Velodrome and National Cycling Centre in Manchester, which support the training of Team GB's extraordinary athletes. At a time when the government is setting out its plans to equip Britain for growth by boosting local and regional economies, removing barriers to opportunity and providing people with the skills they need to gain good jobs – ISG research sets out that construction data could be the great overlooked tool in our strategic workforce planning. Rethinking the skills conundrum could lead to success stories for many people and communities where the right career opportunity can be a hard find, communities like Corbridge and people like Amber. Amber always wanted to work with kids, but when a new position opened at the Corbridge Youth Initiative, she found herself in need of a Level 6 Youth Work Apprenticeship. What could have been a closed door opened into something so much more. It’s a story of skills, development, and passion. 💙 It’s Amber’s story, and it’s only just beginning 👇 https://ow.ly/2nCt50SAh6u #SocialValue #Construction #Careers #Community

We are pleased to announce that ISG is currently preserving a key piece of Cornwall’s architectural heritage. The Grade I-listed Penzance Market House, dating back to 1838, has been home to one of the UK's top retail banks for 99 years. We have been called upon to restore this iconic structure while ensuring the bank can continue to serve the community. The restoration process will address water damage, strengthen the timber structure, and replace the lead on the dome, ensuring this historic building remains a part of Cornwall's cultural landscape for generations to come. Working closely with local historians, Historic England, and council planning authorities, ISG is ensuring that every repair is true to the original construction methods and materials. This approach honours the building’s heritage while integrating innovative restoration techniques. 🗨️ Matt O'Hara, Site Manager, ISG: "We are working to understand the original construction of the building, and we are carrying out like-for-like repairs with the same materials.” By the end of July, our 24-week construction program will conclude, revealing the beautifully restored Market House. We are proud to support the bank in reopening its doors to the community, ensuring this historic landmark continues to serve and inspire. 💛 Learn more about the project ➡️ https://ow.ly/oyIx50SAce7 #Construction #Restoration #ArchitecturalHeritage

This year’s United Nations Global Compact SDG Innovation Accelerator Programme cohort Millie Davey, Brittany Doyle, Joshua Pires-Reeves and Mary Ord took to the stage yesterday to present their innovation. Organised by the United Nations Global Compact, the programme is designed to accelerate business innovation, while aligning with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. It also has the potential to activate the potential future of business leaders and changemakers, empowering young talent from participating organisations. Our young innovators are seeking to apply more circular and inclusive principles to PPE within the construction industry, addressing issues such as overconsumption and inclusivity, while educating on the importance of fit-for-purpose PPE. We would like to wish Millie, Brittany, Joshua and Mary the best of luck! #Construction
