The global #energystorage market wants #longerduration storage (#LDES). That was the key takeaway our team took from #Intersolar #Munich 2024 and it represents a monumental shift in direction. But that was not all we learnt. Here are our other key takeaways: - Invinity's #BNEF Tier 1 supplier status continues to be recognised and valued. - LDES storage project size is growing rapidly - GWh-scale projects are being planned and executed in all major regions around the world. - #Safety continues to be of critical importance - some developers are limiting or eliminating #lithium technologies from their planning. - The lithium #battery market is super-saturated with suppliers and they are overly competitive. The shift to longer duration is likely to have a significant impact. - Developers, IPPs and Utilities are searching hard for proven, safe and viable non-lithium battery alternatives that can be deployed now. #Europe is waking up to the benefits of longer duration storage that are accelerating the transition to #netzero. Invinity is proud to be at the forefront of this industry. Well done to the team (Colin W. Boone, Peter Strassheim, Fred Hartshorn, Simon Biancardi) and thank you to Intersolar for having us! #vanadium #flowbattery #vfb #battery #intersolar #munich #renewableenergy

This excellent report on the role energy storage can—and will—play on the electricity grid gives insight on a breadth of technical topics in remarkably clear fashion. Amongst the highlights is the discussion on the value in flexibility: "In practice, ESS deployed on the grid do not perform only one application. Instead, they build value by providing many different services simultaneously and at different times. Building a proper assessment of the value stack of a storage system takes advantage of these varied services and is critical to understanding how ESS fit into the electricity grid." "for the first time, #energy production and #energystorage are independent. A #solar panel or a #wind turbine produces energy but does not store it. To make solar or wind energy available when we need it, we must store it as a separate capability. That’s our business." Great to see our CEO Larry Zulch interviewed by Environment Journal on how #vanadium #flowbatteries stabilise a #renewable grid and Invinity's plans for the future. https://lnkd.in/esPuzDvw
